Reporting to the Vice-President Finance, you will have the ear of the President and engage regularly with the senior leadership team. This full-time, in-office role based in downtown Vancouver, will lead a finance team of four including professionals who are brilliant at maintaining the day-to-day accounting and reporting. Where you come in is using your experience and passions to automate and streamline the day-to-day while customizing and developing valuable timely information to help steer the business operations.
In this newly created strategic role, you will elevate the value of the finance function - bringing greater rigour, reporting depth, and analytical insight - while acting as a trusted thought partner to the Vice-President Finance, President and leadership team.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Finance Team Development and AI automation: Drive adoption of AI while developing the finance team to be a greater value-add beyond transactional accuracy.
- Full-Cycle Accounting & Controls: Ownership of full-cycle accounting, reporting and controls including design and continuous improvement over inventory, purchasing and vendor management systems.
- Financial Planning, Modelling, & Growth Analysis: Develop financial models for expansion, capital projects and acquisitions including international opportunities. Turn financial analysis into actionable advice for business growth.
- Treasury, Tax & Compliance: Oversee cash flow forecasting, working capital management, tax compliance, banking relationships, hedging strategies and more, including managing the external review and audit engagements.
Senior Management will be looking for your suggestions and recommendations as you learn the business and master this opportunity.
Requirements
- A Canadian CPA designation is required with 8+ years of progressive finance experience including roles as a Controller or finance leader.
- Background in a multi-location manufacturing, food & beverage, consumer packaged goods, or a multi-product business strongly preferred.
- Track record of applying AI and automation tools to modernize the finance function is a have-to-have!
- A solid understanding of cost accounting, product-level profitability, and COGM analysis is beneficial.
- Proven track record of preparing and presenting analytical reporting.
- Operations Experience. You are genuinely interested in the business and the levers that drive performance.
- Hands-on and pragmatic; comfortable in a nimble, growth oriented, owner-operated environment.
- A strong communicator who can translate complex financials into clarity and action for non-financial stakeholders.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including proficiency with functions and tools for managing large data sets.
- Exceptional analytical skills, with meticulous attention to detail and an obsession with producing error-free work.
- Proactive problem solver with strong critical thinking skills, adept at multi-tasking.
- Confident, entrepreneurial and an excellent communicator.
- Proven people development and leadership experience.
