Job description
Our client, a reputable real estate/property management company, is actively seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Controller to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on CPA with a strong background in property/real estate accounting.

If you’ve worked as a senior finance team member in a real estate environment, have supervisory experience, and enjoy being hands-on in the numbers, please apply today!

Work Arrangement:
In-office in Waterloo, ON.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all finance and accounting activities related to investments, properties, and developments.
  • Prepare annual budgets, timely financial statements, variance analyses, and internal management reports for several legal entities.
  • Oversee and manage a small team of property accountants.
  • Manage complex cash flow, AP/AR, and all banking activities for the entire portfolio.
  • Maintain financial controls and ensure compliance.
  • Improve and document accounting processes; support audits and compliance efforts.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • 6+ years of experience in Finance and Accounting in a real estate/property management environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • CPA designation required
  • People leadership experience and strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience using Yardi, and ability to quickly learn new systems/software
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • High level of organization and detail orientation
  • Self-motivated and hands-on, enjoys being involved in the numbers and operations
