We are looking for an experienced Controller to oversee financial operations for our construction business in Mississauga, Ontario. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate financial reporting, optimizing accounting processes, and supporting strategic business decisions. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in accounting and financial management, paired with extensive experience in the construction industry.
Responsibilities :
- Manage and oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
- Ensure accurate preparation and submission of financial statements, adhering to industry and regulatory standards.
- Monitor and analyze budgets, forecasts, and financial performance to support business objectives.
- Conduct audits and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
- Supervise the calculation and reporting of work-in-progress (WIP) and percentage-of-completion metrics.
- Utilize accounting software systems and tools, such as 3M, ADP, and Crystal Reports, to streamline processes and generate insights.
- Collaborate with project teams to provide financial guidance and ensure accurate tracking of costs and revenues.
- Manage CRM tools to maintain financial data consistency and support customer relationship strategies.
- Lead efforts to optimize budgeting processes and enhance operational efficiency.
- Provide financial expertise and recommendations to senior management for strategic planning purposes.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in financial management or accounting roles, preferably within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in accounting software systems and MS office suites.
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting principles.
- Experience with work-in-progress (WIP) reporting and percentage-of-completion calculations.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and their application to financial management.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee budget processes and provide accurate financial forecasts.
- Excellent auditing skills and experience implementing internal controls.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
