Job description

Description

The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Residential Construction Technical Specialist to join their team in a hybrid role based in Surrey. This position combines in office collaboration and report writing with field based technical assessments across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, with occasional travel elsewhere in Western Canada. The role focuses on reviewing newly constructed residential homes to assess workmanship, materials, and compliance with construction standards and applicable guidelines, while helping resolve construction related concerns in a timely and practical manner.

The Employer
Our client is an established organization operating within the insurance and risk management space that works closely with residential builders and construction professionals. Their team includes specialists with backgrounds in construction, technical inspection, and insurance who collaborate to support strong building standards and effective risk management practices.

About You
You are a construction professional with hands on experience in residential building who enjoys technical assessments and investigative work. You are comfortable visiting job sites, evaluating construction quality, and preparing clear written reports. You bring sound judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with internal teams and industry partners.

Necessary Qualifications Include
• 2–5 years of experience in residential construction or a related field
• Solid understanding of building practices, materials, and construction standards
• Familiarity with building codes or construction performance guidelines
• Ability to conduct site reviews and prepare clear technical reports
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem solving skills
• Construction related certifications or trade experience considered an asset
• Additional language skills such as Punjabi, Hindi, Mandarin, or Cantonese considered an asset

What’s in It for You
• Hybrid role combining field assessments and office collaboration
• Competitive salary and benefits package
• Mileage and travel expense reimbursement where applicable
• Professional development and training opportunities
• Supportive and collaborative team environment
• On site wellness amenities including gym and wellness spaces
