Job Overview

Position Summary

  • The Data Migration Lead is responsible for the planning, governance, and execution of data migration activities across multiple enterprise transformation programs-including, but not limited to, SAP S/4HANA, Asset Suite 9 and ECC initiatives. This senior position calls for technical expertise, strong business process awareness in Finance, SCM, and EAM, and the ability to guide the team in leveraging advanced data governance and integration tools. The successful candidate will ensure that all technology and resource selections align with and enhance our client’s broader data architecture and analytics ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shape and deliver the data migration strategy for a variety of enterprise projects (ERP, cloud, analytics, regulatory, and business platform migrations), ensuring early assessment, scope definition, and interdependency mapping.
  • Lead migration efforts across functional domains (Finance, SCM, EAM), using best-in-class solutions for data profiling, lineage, and quality-such as Collibra for governance and Data Lake platforms for scalable data staging and historical archiving.
  • Utilize ERP connectors and integration technologies that enable robust extraction of data and metadata, facilitate migration validation, and support automated reconciliation and data quality checks.
  • Oversee the use of advanced tooling to compare legacy and target environments, ensuring completeness and accuracy at every migration checkpoint.
  • Collaborate with technology teams to ensure that new data management solutions and resources are selected and deployed in a way that complements existing data lakes, governance frameworks, and analytics platforms.
  • Partner with business data owners and SMEs to establish clear data stewardship, sign-off processes, and ongoing quality monitoring.
  • Coordinate with infrastructure and security teams to ensure secure, efficient, and compliant data movement across on-premise and cloud environments.
  • Develop and manage dashboards and reports that provide transparency on migration progress, data quality metrics, and readiness for go-live.
  • Work closely with system integrators, legacy system teams, and platform architects to align data migration, cutover, and fallback strategies with our client’s overall enterprise data landscape.
  • Solution Architecture & Configuration
  • Ensure migration and integration architectures are designed to work seamlessly with our client’s data governance and analytics strategies, including Data Lake environments and Collibra-based governance.
  • Validate that ERP connectors and supporting tools are configured to maximize data extraction, lineage tracking, and auditability across all platforms.
  • Collaborate on the architectural design to ensure scalability, compliance, and best practice alignment for future technology investments.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in data management, with 5+ years leading data migration for large-scale enterprise transformation projects.
  • Deep understanding of S/4HANA data architecture, SAP MDG, and cross-platform data integration, especially in Finance, SCM, and EAM.
  • Proven experience with industry-leading data governance and migration tools, including Collibra, Data Lake technologies, and ERP integration/connectors.
  • Expertise in comparing data and metadata across systems, automating migration checks, and ensuring data integrity throughout the migration lifecycle.
  • Strong analytical, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Certifications & Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • SAP certifications in Data Migration, S/4HANA System Administration, or Master Data Governance.
  • Data governance or management certifications such as COMP (DAMA), Collibra Ranger, or Informatica Certified Professional.
  • Cloud data engineering certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Data Engineer) are highly valued.
  • ETUdata integration certifications (Informatica, Talend, SAP Data Services).
  • Project management or agile certifications (PMP, PRINCE2, Scrum Master, or SAFe) are a plus.

Core Competencies

  • Business process expertise in Finance, SCM, and EAM.
  • Strong grasp of enterprise data governance, lineage, and analytics integration.
  • Skilled in technology selection and solution alignment with broader enterprise data strategies.
  • Proven success in high-stakes, cross-functional delivery environments.
