Job description
Maintenance & Facility Renovation Specialist
Ontario Hockey Academy – Cornwall, ON
Apply online at https://www.ohacanada.com/careers or send email to Liam@ohaedu.com

The Role: The Ontario Hockey Academy (OHA) is seeking a skilled, multi-talented Maintenance Specialist to join our team. We are looking for a dedicated professional who can balance high-quality facility renovations with the proactive oversight of our academy vehicles.

This is a vital role: you will ensure our campus remains in peak condition and our fleet stays safe and road-ready for our student-athletes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Renovations & Drywall: Lead interior improvement projects, including professional drywall installation, taping, and finishing, as well as painting and carpentry.
  • Vehicle Oversight: Conduct regular inspections of academy vehicles (vans/buses). Perform basic maintenance (fluid checks, bulb replacements, tire pressure) and coordinate with external shops for major repairs and safety certifications.
  • Facility Upkeep: Manage the day-to-day "fix-it" list, from plumbing repairs to electrical troubleshooting and general campus hardware.
  • Project Management: Identify areas of the facility requiring upgrades and execute small-scale renovations from start to finish.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure both the building and the fleet meet all provincial safety standards and regulations.

What We’re Looking For:
  • Renovation Expertise: Strong background in dry-walling and general construction.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Comfortable "under the hood." You should have a solid understanding of vehicle maintenance and the ability to spot mechanical issues before they become breakdowns.
  • Reliability: A self-starter who can manage their own schedule and prioritize urgent repairs.
  • Professionalism: You take pride in a job well done, whether it’s a perfectly sanded wall or a well-maintained van.
  • License: A valid driver’s license with a clean record is mandatory (Commercial license B/E/F is a major plus).
    Outdoor & Grounds-keeping Duties:
    • Landscape maintenance including lawn care, gardening (hedges, flowers etc), raking, and leaf blowing.
    • Snow removal and salting during winter months (on-call rotation required/snow plowing experience is an asset).
    • Use and maintenance of power tools and yard equipment.
To Apply:
Please submit your resume and a summary of your renovation and mechanical experience to [Insert Email Address] or visit the OHA main office.

Drop off application to Ontario Hockey Academy 1541 Vincent Massey Drive, Cornwall, ON.
Weekdays 10am to 3pm.

Apply online at https://www.ohacanada.com/careers.

Who We’re Looking For – Trade-Savvy, Reliable, Safety-First Professionals

Required Qualifications:
  • Physically capable of handling the job demands (lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing, kneeling, working outdoors in all seasons).
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong team player.
  • Reliable, safety-conscious, and committed to doing quality work.
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license.
  • Able to complete required safety training.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Day, evening and weekend work.
  • Must supply Criminal Record Check.
  • Must be currently able to work in Canada or hold a Canadian employment visa.

Term: Begin May
Salary: $26 + per hour, based on experience.
