About the position

Duties
• Operate and maintain high pressure and low pressure steam boilers.
• Operate and maintain heating boilers.
• Maintain HVAC systems throughout the facility. Work environment
The Lethbridge Research and Development Centre is a large facility with numerous mechanical and boiler rooms, as well as complex operational systems. Intent of the process
The immediate need to staff is for one HP-04 position indeterminately. The position location is in Lethbridge, Alberta and that full-time on-site presence in Lethbridge, Alberta is required.A pool of qualified and partially qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions with various employment tenures. Possession of a valid, class (5) (Alberta) driver’s license, or other provincial/territorial equivalency.
Be able and willing to wear appropriate Personal protective equipment (PPE) to minimize exposure to chemical hazards in the workplace.

Operational Requirements

Ability and willingness to travel.
Ability and willingness to work overtime including evenings and weekends.
Ability and willingness to be part of the emergency/call back list and provide stand-by duty 24 hours/day; 7 days/week.
Ability and willingness to work under variable weather conditions.
Ability and willingness to work in harsh environments (outdoors, cold, hot, dust, and noise).
Ability and willingness to work with chemicals.

A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (see Note 1). Note:
The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience. Possession of a valid , class (5) (Alberta) Power Engineer certification, or other provincial/territorial equivalency. At a later stage in the selection process, you will be required to provide documentation verifying your educational credentials.If you were educated outside of Canada, you must have your certificates and/or diplomas assessed against Canadian education standards.
