Our Ideal Candidate


We are looking for an experienced knowledgeable professional with experience in the natural resource sector. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for engineering and design of road, bridge, infrastructure, industrial /commercial projects, as well as field services projects in the public and private sectors.

You will have knowledge of concrete, steel and wood design, as well as bridge inspections and bridge evaluations. Experience with the preparations of contract documents, technical specifications and capital cost estimating will be considered an asset.

Using your considerable organizational, communication and people skills, you will collaborate with multi-discipline teams to ensure projects are completed within allotted schedules and budgets, and to high quality standards.

A Day in the Life

  • Create proposals and fee estimates
  • Preparation of engineering designs and related documents for various projects
  • Interface directly with clients, team members, contractors, and others to clearly define project requirements and expectations
  • Assist with scoping, budgeting, designing, and managing civil and structural projects, such as bridge design, roads, infrastructure, transmission lines, pipelines, mining, land development, and field services projects
  • Perform/supervise field inspections and assessments
  • Preparation of technical memorandums, reports and studies
  • Preparation of design drawings and specifications
  • Provide technical guidance to EITs and designers to deliver preliminary to detailed design drawings and specifications
  • Collaborate with and supervise structural team, comprised of engineers, designers, project coordinators, and others, to develop engineering design and related documents
  • Manage client relations at both a technical and commercial level to achieve client satisfaction and leverage further opportunities

What You’ll Bring to the Team

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural and registered, or eligible to register, as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in the natural resource sector with experience in road, bridge and access infrastructure
  • Proven experience and demonstrated understanding of delivering projects on schedule, on budget, in scope and at the required quality and achieving client satisfaction
  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written)
  • Proven ability to interact with clients and to collaborate with team members in a multi-disciplined environment
  • Technical competence and strong attention to detail
  • The following will be considered an asset, but not necessary
  • Registered as a Professional Forester (RPF) in the province of BC
  • Experience with RoadEng and Civil 3D
  • Experience performing construction layout reviews or surveys
  • Experience reviewing shop drawings and responding to RFI's
  • Experience in the design of concrete, steel and timber structures
  • Experience in water/waste water design
  • Experience working in Northern BC or remote environments
  • Experience with material testing (soils and concrete)
