The School

Coastal Lakes College (CLC) is a vibrant and forward-thinking secondary school in the Peel region. Established in 2019 it has evolved into a comprehensive Year 7 to12 college that serves students across the six-year levels, offering diverse pathways tailored to support individual aspirations and learning journeys. As an inclusive school community, we are united by a shared vision of "success for all students" and a commitment to developing the whole child. Our staff work collaboratively to deliver outstanding learning experiences across academics, social-emotional learning, the arts, sport, culture, and community engagement. Guided by our motto — Imagine, Believe, Inspire and Achieve — we challenge every student to imagine the possibilities, believe in themselves, inspire themselves and others and achieve their personal best.

Our strong partnerships with local community organisations and feeder primary schools have created a supportive network for staff, students, and families. At CLC, you’ll be part of a passionate team that values innovation, collaboration, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day.

The Role

Are you looking to join a passionate and dynamic team of professionals committed to fostering student engagement and a caring and supportive environment enabling students to thrive and achieve success?

CLC is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Education Support Teacher to join our inclusive and supportive team. The successful applicant will ideally display outstanding interpersonal skills, a passion for inclusive education, and a commitment to creating a positive, safe and nurturing learning environment where every student can thrive.

The successful applicant will join our Inclusive Education Department, working with students who require a range of substantial to extensive adjustments and supports to access the curriculum, engage in learning and achieve success in their education. Our dynamic team of specialist teachers and education support staff works collaboratively to deliver individualised programs and evidence-based practices that support students' academic, social, emotional and physical development. The successful applicant would be responsible for designing and implementing highly differentiated learning programs and Individual Education Plans (IEPs) that provide meaningful and engaging learning opportunities tailored to each student's strengths, needs and aspirations.

This role ideally requires a reflective, flexible and student-centred educator who displays knowledge of evidence-based practices that support students with disability and neurodivergent learners. Highly desirable skills include experience supporting students with complex communication needs and the implementation of strengths-based approaches that foster independence, engagement and wellbeing. A strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and inclusive teaching strategies is desirable to promoting safe, supportive and responsive learning environments where every student's success is recognised and celebrated.

The successful applicant will ideally possess the capacity to effectively lead classroom teams and work collaboratively with families, therapists and external agencies to support student learning and wellbeing outcomes. Experience in supporting students with complex communication needs and planning for students with high and complex needs will be highly regarded. The ability to develop, implement and review high-quality IEPs that incorporate functional curriculum goals, social-emotional learning, life skills and Protective Behaviours education is essential. A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is desirable but not essential.

The successful applicant will ideally display a strong commitment to inclusive education and a genuine belief in the potential of every student to learn, participate and succeed. They should be skilled in building and sustaining positive relationships with students, families and colleagues, and will contribute to a culture of high expectations, inclusion and continuous improvement.

As a developing college, we value collaboration, adaptability, innovation and a commitment to ongoing professional growth. Teamwork, reflective practice and a willingness to contribute to whole-college improvement initiatives will be highly regarded.

This is an exciting opportunity to join CLC as we continue to strengthen and refine our inclusive education programs ensuring every student is supported to achieve success at school and make a positive transition to further education, training, employment and community life.
