Job description

Job Summary

The Machine Operator will work within our Blanching Department and other various manual machines to produce premium quality, high precision, and cuttingtools. Will verify accuracy by using engineering prints,componentdrawings, assembly drawings, and engineering specifications.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the setup and offsets asrequired.

  • Studiesblueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part todeterminedimensions and tolerances for finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.

  • Verifies conformance of finishedworkpiece tospecifications.

  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and material on machines such as mills, lathes,grindersand shapers.

  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors and speed, feed, depth, and angle cut.

  • Check machinery on a daily basis to ensure functionality.

  • Other dutiesassigned.


Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) isrequired.

  • Certification from a qualified training institution in the field of machining is preferred but notrequired.

  • Minimumof 1 year machine shop experience isrequired.

  • Experience withBlanching Machinesis preferred.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong math skillsrequiredto performday to dayoperations including the ability to convert metric to inch and decimal to fraction.

  • Ability to accurately read blueprints.

  • Ability to calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.

  • Ability to machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and grinders.

  • Ability to measure, examine, and test completed toolsin order todetect defects and ensure conformance with specifications.

  • Ability to set up, adjust, andoperatebasic machine toolsin order toperform precision machining operations.

  • Ability tomonitorfeeds and speeds of machines during the machining process.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing with some lifting, bending, and twisting.

  • Ability tolift upto 50 pounds.

  • Ability to stoop,bendor kneel whenrequired.
