Job Description

Near North Customs Brokers is seeking a Full-Time Customs Compliance Analyst. In this role you will provide support to potential new clients, existing clients and internal employee queries with a strong adherence to CBSA regulations.

Shift details are as follows for this position:

Tuesday to Friday 3:00 - 11:30 / Saturday 8:00 - 4:30

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Classify and validate products using HS Codes and Tariff Treatments.

  • Review import documentation for accuracy and customs compliance.

  • Audit assigned accounts and ensure files are compliant with CBSA regulations.

  • Create and maintain data bases.

  • Build and maintain excellent ongoing communication with clients.

  • Respond in a timely fashion to internal and external inquiries from clients or other departments within the organization such as: Importing, Client Services, Finance and Freight Forwarding.

  • Majority of the time will be spent sitting

  • Customs related problems

  • Upset customers and disputes

  • Dealing with unrealistic demands regarding service standards

  • Exposed to deadlines on a daily basis

  • Blind classifying goods with very little time limit

  • Mental stress that comes with the job

Qualifications

  • Proficient verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years rating and customs brokerage experience.

  • Strong knowledge of customs tariff and regulations.

  • Excellent communication, organizational and judgement skills.

  • Ability to work well under pressure, understand deadlines and multi-tasks.

  • Solid computer skills ( Microsoft Word, Excel, Email, etc.).

  • Strong attention to detail.
