Our client, a leading organization in the financial services sector, is seeking a Database Developer to join their specialized IT delivery unit.
This role is at the heart of a critical modernization program aimed at upgrading database infrastructures from legacy systems to SQL Server 2022. Operating within a hybrid cloud and on-premises ecosystem, you will be instrumental in executing hands-on technical migrations. Your primary focus will be to guarantee that database objects, code, and configurations are seamlessly upgraded, fully optimized, and rigorously secured, all while maintaining strict alignment with corporate compliance standards.
This is a long-term contract ending on March 31, 2027. The position follows a hybrid work model, requiring the candidate to be on-site at the Vancouver office at least twice a month.
Advantages Secure your professional future with a stable contract extending over a year.
Enjoy the flexibility of a remote-first hybrid model with minimal commuting to the Vancouver office.
Play a pivotal technical role in a large-scale enterprise modernization and cloud integration initiative.
Collaborate with a diverse group of technical experts including architects, database administrators, and cybersecurity professionals.
Responsibilities Audit and catalog existing database access rights on legacy instances to identify any gaps that need to be addressed before the migration.
Extract and analyze security configurations such as logins, roles, and directory groups to build comprehensive access matrices for both current and future environments.
Execute thorough access cleanup activities prior to migration to eliminate obsolete, redundant, or non-compliant permissions.
Adapt the access matrix to leverage the advanced capabilities of the newest SQL Server edition and meet the requirements of modern cloud ecosystems.
Implement and align standardized role-based access control models to be utilized in the target environment.
Validate database permissions with technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure they accurately reflect actual operational responsibilities.
Engage actively in technical workshops, impact analyses, and validation activities alongside infrastructure and security teams.
Assist in formulating the security migration strategy including the transition to modern directory authentication methods.
Verify post-migration system stability and access compliance to ensure seamless business continuity for critical applications.
Author comprehensive reference documentation detailing final security configurations for operational and support teams.
Qualifications Extensive expertise in managing database access and security within SQL Server ecosystems.
Proven experience with identity and access management across cloud and hybrid environments including role-based access control.
Deep understanding of database security principles, encryption protocols, permissions management, and corporate compliance standards.
Practical knowledge of database upgrade processes, specifically transitioning to modern SQL Server editions in hybrid setups.
Strong analytical mindset coupled with exceptional attention to detail and documentary rigor.
Complete fluency in English is mandatory to operate effectively within the team. Bilingualism in French and English is considered an asset, but unilingual English profiles are fully welcomed.
Summary We are looking for a meticulous Database Developer with a strong focus on security and access management to drive a major SQL Server migration. If you excel at creating access matrices, implementing role-based security models, and are looking for a stable hybrid mandate in Vancouver until 2027, this opportunity is the perfect fit for you.
