Job description
We are seeking a highly accomplished Senior Applications Architect with master-level expertise in application design, data modeling, and cloud-native integration systems to drive the technical evolution of enterprise applications. In this role, you will take technical ownership of the application architecture, steering it from raw system requirements into secure, high-performance, and resilient solutions. Operating at the critical intersection of advanced data engineering and emerging technologies, you will design scalable data pipelines and harness specialized artificial intelligence capabilities to automate data analysis workflows, optimize data structures, and support modern, high-sensitivity transaction environments.

Location: Toronto, ON (Fully Onsite – 5 days/week required)

Duration: 9-month contract.

Advantages
Strategic Architectural Authority: Lead high-visibility structural designs combining modern cloud-native frameworks with advanced data analysis capabilities.

Pioneering AI-Driven Data Sandbox: Advance your resume by implementing real-world Generative AI analytics, machine learning tools, and Databricks pipeline pipelines.

Multi-System Infrastructure Scope: Command an expansive technical canvas spanning diverse mid-tier, mobile, and secure containerized microservices platforms.

Focused Production Cadence: Capitalize on an active, fully onsite scheduling model optimized for real-time collaboration, swift environment alignment, and immediate impact.

Responsibilities
Application Architecture Leadership: Drive the end-to-end strategy, blueprint development, and implementation of application structures across mid-tier and mobile platforms.

Scalable Data Pipelines: Design, implement, and optimize robust enterprise data pipelines leveraging deep, hands-on infrastructure expertise in Databricks.

AI-Centric Data Analysis: Blend traditional data modeling strengths with new AI abilities, utilizing prompt engineering, machine learning literacy, and generative AI patterns for automated data exploration and summarization.

Modern Integration & Microservices: Architect secure cloud-native environments and RESTful web APIs using containerized microservice architectures, specifically utilizing Tanzu solutions.

Advanced Information Architecture: Oversee comprehensive data modeling, business intelligence (BI) analytics layouts, and conceptual architecture mappings using Computer-Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools such as PowerDesigner and Visio.

Enterprise Governance & Review: Direct the development of Target State Architecture (TSA) parameters, ensuring architectural domain deliverables adhere strictly to required enterprise standards, privacy structures, and security considerations.

Multi-Platform Engineering: Support and manage highly complex systems running natively across distinct operating systems, enterprise relational databases (e.g., MS SQL), and core programming languages (Java, C#, JavaScript).

Automation Mastery: Deploy predictive machine learning algorithms and advanced workflow orchestration to automate data collection, cleaning, and extraction-transformation-loading (ETL) routines.

Stakeholder Facilitation: Engage and guide multiple stakeholders through structured design walkthroughs, translating abstract technical requirements into scalable, clear solution frameworks.

Qualifications
Core Application Architecture Seniority: Extensive, progressive professional experience in leadership roles focused on the development, systems analysis, and implementation of complex application architectures.

Core Development & Engineering: 5+ years of dedicated professional experience in the development and implementation of enterprise applications and databases.

Databricks Engineering Depth: Proven, hands-on technical expertise designing and building scalable, high-volume data pipelines inside Databricks environments (Strictly Required).

AI & Machine Learning Proficiency: Practical experience using AI for data analysis, including a solid working knowledge of prompt engineering frameworks, ML models, and automated data cleaning/ETL routines (Strictly Required).

Containerized Microservices Fluency: Direct technical experience managing container-based microservices, specifically with Tanzu (formerly Pivotal Cloud Foundry).

Cloud Native Tech Stack: Strong familiarity with secure, high-sensitivity cloud technologies, specifically Azure App Services and RESTful API development.

Multi-Platform / Protocol Polyglot: Verified capability supporting diverse operating systems (Solaris, Windows), programming languages (Java, C#, JavaScript), and standard communication protocols (HTTP, TCP/IP, SMTP).

Structured Modeling & Governance: Proficient utilizing CASE tools like PowerDesigner or Visio alongside an awareness of target state architecture domains and enterprise IT governance frameworks.

Soft Skills: Elite analytical problem-solving mechanics paired with polished negotiation, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
