Duties and Responsibilities: Develop project-specific Integrated Testing Plans (ITPs) by reviewing engineering drawings, building designs, and sequences of operation to identify all system integration points and expected functional outcomes.
Coordinate integrated testing activities among mechanical, electrical, fire protection, elevator, building automation, and software contractors.
Serve as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders involved in integrated systems testing and maintain project schedules.
Witness and oversee live functional testing of integrated life safety systems to verify proper interaction between all connected systems.
Ensure that a trigger in one system (e.g., a sprinkler waterflow switch) correctly initiates actions in others (e.g., fire alarm signal, elevator recall, fan shutdown).
Identify and document integration failures, work closely with design engineers and install contractors to troubleshoot root causes, and schedule re-testing once corrected.
Prepare, compile, and sign/seal the final compliance report.
Submit this to the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), such as municipal building inspectors, to secure building occupancy.
Qualifications: Candidates must meet one of the three following professional qualification requirements: Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the province of practice (preferred and often required for signing final reports by municipalities).
Registered Architect or Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with relevant specialized experience.
ULC S1001 Certified Specialist employed by an authorized ULC S1001 Service Provider.
Requirements: Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience in building commissioning, electrical/mechanical consulting, or hands-on installation and testing of fire alarm and life safety systems.
- 5+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering for industrial, commercial, and/or institutional buildings.
Deep familiarity with CAN/ULC-S1001 , the National Building Code (NBC), National Fire Code (NFC), and local provincial standards (e.g., Ontario Building Code Div.
B, 3.2.9.1 / 9.10.18.10 Knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as the Canadian Electrical Code, Ontario Building Code (OBC), Canadian National Building Code (NBC), etc.
Working knowledge of fire alarm panels, sprinkler/standpipe systems, emergency generators, smoke control/HVAC dampers, electromagnetic locks, elevator recall controls, and building automation systems (BAS).
Strong project management skills, exceptional technical writing (for high-stakes reports), and the diplomacy required to resolve conflicts between competing trades on-site.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Prior experience or design knowledge in fire protection sprinkler, mechanical, or electrical systems is highly desirable.
Regular travel to active construction and project sites is required (valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required).

Compensation Range: $60,000 - $90,000 /per annum This compensation represents INVIRO’s current anticipated range for this position.
