Job description
About Vitacore:
At Vitacore, we integrate cutting-edge research and technology with a profound commitment to sustainability and innovation. Established in 2020, Vitacore is driven by our mission to develop transformative products and services that address critical global issues, ensuring ethical practices and effective outcomes for the betterment of humankind and the planet. Our journey began with a focus on the healthcare sector, where we became leaders in manufacturing recycling single-use protective equipment. Today, we apply our expertise and innovative spirit to broader challenges, developing advanced technologies, sustainable practices, and innovative manufacturing processes that redefine what is possible across various industries.
About the Role:
Vitacore is seeking a Machinist apprentice to join our Manufacturing & Engineering teams and train under our long-time Senior Machinist. This role is designed for someone who is hungry to learn, mechanically curious, and excited by hands-on problem solving. The successful apprentice will gain exposure to a huge variety of tasks – custom part fabrication, equipment repair, prototyping, installations, and one-off builds.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone early in their machinist career who wants real breadth, real mentorship, and the chance to eventually take over the full machinist function.

Responsibilities include:
  • Design and manufacture custom parts for production, engineering, and R&D needs.
  • Support equipment maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting across multiple departments.
  • Work closely with our Senior Machinist to learn tooling setup, machining processes, safe operation, and workflow planning.
  • Help translate engineering concepts into practical components and prototypes.
  • Uses lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, and hand tools to build or modify parts.
  • Assist with installations, fabrication projects, and ad hoc builds.
  • Participate in continuous learning, applying theoretical training to hands-on work.
  • Provide support wherever needed in a dynamic manufacturing environment, gaining exposure to many technical areas.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • High school diploma required.
  • Completion of a pre-apprenticeship machinist program (1-year) OR currently a 1st or 2nd year machining apprentice.
  • Strong interest in mechanical systems and fabrication.
  • Ability to run or willingness to learn:
    • Manual lathe.
    • Manual milling machines.
    • Surface grinder.
    • General shop and precision hand tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawing.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges)
  • Curious, resourceful mindset – comfortable creating parts that don’t exist yet and solving novel engineering problems.
  • Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work with people across many departments.
  • Strong communication skills; asks questions early and seeks clarity when needed.
  • Bonus Consideration: Millwright/Industrial Mechanic apprentices with manual machining experience.
  • Not a Fit: CNC-only machinists.
Compensation:
  • $23 CAD per hour.
  • Health & Dental benefits.
  • 2 weeks paid vacation.
  • Tuition Assistance Program.
  • Multiple company events throughout the year.
If you are interested in joining our team, please send your resume and your salary expectation to hr@vitacore.com with the subject line of “Machinist Apprentice – Application”. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
