Finance Business Partner
Salary Range: $105,000 - $115,000
Location: Vancouver, BC

Ready to be at the heart of a zero-carbon energy future?

As a Finance Business Partner at Drax, you will deal with financial planning and analysis support for Pellet operations, particularly in the Northern Region. Under the guidance of the Senior FP&A Manager, the individual in this position will contribute to the team's objectives by delivering high-quality, timely, and insightful analyses for both short-term and long-term planning.

Why join Drax?

  • At Drax, we’re not just generating power; we’re transforming it. We’re a diverse and committed team, working together to create a brighter, more sustainable future. When you join us, you’ll find:
  • A Clear Purpose: Be part of a company at the forefront of sustainable energy, making a real difference for the planet and our communities.
  • Growth Opportunities: We believe in developing our people.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: From day one, you’ll receive competitive wages, comprehensive health and dental benefits, and an RRSP matching plan to support your financial goals. You’ll also participate in a company bonus plan that rewards overall Drax performance and safety.
  • A Supportive Team: Work in an environment where continuous learning is encouraged, and your contributions are valued. We’re a ‘can-do’ kind of place, empowering you to make informed decisions and do the right thing.

Your Day-to-Day as a Finance Business Partner. You’ll:

  • Support the FP&A team during the business planning and reforecasting processes.
  • Provide essential financial analysis, both internal and external, along with necessary reports and information.
  • Collect and maintain data within a KPI framework to monitor and assess business performance and progress toward achieving short-term and long-term strategic plans.
  • Optimize the use of Group forecasting and reporting tools to assist the FP&A team in planning and decision-making, ensuring that Pellet operations requirements are well understood and integrated into the ongoing development of these tools.
  • Participate in ad hoc responsibilities and projects, offering support or assistance as directed by the line manager or senior finance management.
  • Collaborate with colleagues from various departments (operations, sales and logistics, finance) to analyse cost-saving opportunities, develop project plans, and monitor progress against expected results.

What you’ll bring:
To excel in this vital role, you’ll need:

  • Qualified accountant (CPA preferred) with over 5 years of experience in a business environment or in practice.
  • Essential experience in financial accounting and reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and strong skills in the MS Office Suite. Familiarity with enterprise planning tools such as Planful and reporting/dashboarding tools like Power BI is advantageous.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus.
  • Ability to meet demanding deadlines and quickly adapt to changing business needs.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of calculations and analyses.
  • Highly numerate with robust analytical skills; capable of building and interrogating complex financial models and reports.
  • Excellent team player.
  • Adaptable, capable of working independently, and able to lead by example.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt tone and style for various audiences.

How we act at Drax:
Our culture is built on a few core beliefs that guide everything we do:

  • We care about what matters: We support each other to achieve important goals.
  • We’re a can-do kind of place: We’re empowered to make informed decisions and do what’s right.
  • We see things differently: We share insights, search for new ideas, and innovate.
  • We listen carefully: We ensure everyone feels heard and valued.
  • We do what we say we’ll do: We are proactive, committed, and reliable.
