Position Summary:

As the leader of the Finance / Accounting Function in Canada the Finance Manager for Oatey Canada plays a hands-on role in the day-to-day accounting practices of the Canadian business, leading the local accounting team to ensure compliance and reporting satisfies Canadian regulations and company expectations. The Finance Manager is also a member of the Canadian Leadership Team and will be a key voice in the strategic and financial planning as well as day to day management of the Oatey Canada Business. This role currently has 2 direct reports.

Position Responsibilities:

Reporting to the General Manager of Canada and working closely with US counterparts in Controller and FP&A functions, the Oatey Canada Finance Manager will focus primarily on the following areas:

  • Lead / Manage Day to Day Accounting Function

    Provide support to Corporate Finance, Global Accounts Payable and Global Credit and Collections teams as needed.

    Responsible for calculating, reporting, and settling customer rebate and sales representative commission programs monthly.

    In charge of preparing and submitting monthly CBSA and HST filings and ensuring timely payments.

  • Lead Month-End, Quarter-End, Year-End close and Reporting

    Ownership of general ledger accuracy and interpretation of financial results for operations.

    Oversee the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes including review/preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations and internal reporting.

    In coordination with the Corporate Finance team, support the annual audit and tax preparation processes.

  • Financial Planning & Analysis

    Provide support to corporate and local management by providing meaningful insights and analysis of results with an eye to improving topline and bottom-line results through sound financial decision making.

    Lead Canadian Financial planning and forecasting processes inclusive of departmental / functional area budget development and analysis (Sales, Marketing, Admin, Manufacturing and Distribution).

    Identify and champion short-term and long-term margin enhancement and cost reduction initiatives

  • Team Leadership & Development

    Manage and develop direct reports (2) with an eye to identifying growth opportunities for the team and the department.

    Help to elevate the strategic role of the Finance / Accounting function within Oatey Canada.

    Collaborate and lead across the organization with other members of the Canadian Management Team.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • 5-7 years of experience in senior roles within a Canadian division of a multi-national manufacturing / distribution organization.

  • Experience leading day-to-day accounting activities for a Canadian Business Unit.

  • Advanced knowledge / skills with Excel, SAP and OneStream is an asset.

  • Proven leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize several different tasks.

  • Self-motivated and detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.

  • Results-driven, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, including sense of urgency in delivering month-end results.

  • Experience in cost accounting for manufacturing operations a plus.

Education and Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (MBA preferred).

  • Canadian Accounting / Financial Designation - CPA preferred, but relevant experience will be considered.

Compensation Range for the Position:

$110,000.00 - $130,000.00 CAD
