Fire Inspector (UNIFOR TEC Maintenance/Skilled Trades)

What you will deliver :

  • Perform inspections of Property & Premises
  • Monitor & Maintain fire alarm systems
  • Report, document and resolve all fire and life safety infractions
  • Inspect, Monitor and Maintain Sprinkler and Fire Standpipe Systems
  • Respond to emergencies as required
  • Utilize Public Address System to inform / direct tenants regarding emergencies, evacuation procedures, etc.
  • Provide Fire & Life Safety Coordinator with written occurrence / inspections and deficiency reports in a timely manner
  • Maintain and inspect building fire protection systems
  • Provide training to emergency personnel (Fire Wardens, etc.)
  • Work on department projects and initiatives
  • Report major occurrences to Management and tenants as required
  • Liaise with Operations staff, Security and supervisors
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor within the general scope of work

What you need to succeed :

  • Post-secondary education in Fire Protection Engineering Technology or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience or knowledge of the installation / maintenance of fire alarm systems
  • Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) certification or completion of CFAA Theory Exam
  • Completion of NFPA Certified Fire Inspector Level and from a recognized post-secondary institution (an asset)
  • Thoroughly conversant with Ontario Building and Fire Code
  • Working knowledge of sprinkler systems, standpipe systems and fire pumps
