Most of our solutions are related to Energy Transition and carbon reduction industries. POSITION OVERVIEW : Startec Compression & Process is currently recruiting an Apprentice Pipefitter to work at our Shepard Shop ( 9423 Shepard Rd SE, Calgary, AB, T2C 4R6) .

Are you a recent graduate of the pre-employment apprenticeship program for pipefitting and eager to apply your newfound skills in a dynamic work environment?

We are seeking a motivated individual for a four-month contract. In this role, you will have the opportunity to put your training into practice under the guidance of experienced pipefitters and benchfitters.

You’ll play a crucial role in fabricating and installing piping systems for compression and process equipment, gaining valuable hands-on experience, and further honing your skills.

m. - 2 : 30 a.m. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI) : PIPE FABRICATION Pipe Fabrication & Installation Support experienced pipefitters in fabricating piping systems for compression and process equipment, following engineering drawings and specifications.

Assist in the installation of piping and control systems, supports, valves, and spools ensuring compliance with project requirements, safety regulations, and industry standards.

Prepare materials for fabrication and installation, including measuring, cutting, threading, and bending / fitting pipes to required dimensions.

Assist in handling / rigging and bolting of spools. Assist in conducting hydro testing on spool assemblies according to company procedures.

Assist in documenting work progress, including material usage, hours worked, and any issues encountered during fabrication and installation, ensuring accurate record-keeping.

Read and interpret P&ID (piping and instrumentation drawings) and GA’s (general assembly) drawings to assist with assembly processing piping systems.

Tools & Maintenance Use various hand and power tools and equipment safely while abiding by the health & safety rules / regulations Maintain and organize tools and equipment used in pipefitting activities, performing routine inspections and repairs as needed.

Maintaining a clean and organized work area, and helping others maintain their work areas Compliance Adhere to all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.

Assist in conducting quality inspections to verify that fabricated and installed piping systems meet the required specifications and standards, identifying and addressing any deviations or defects.

Actively participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance your skills and knowledge of compression and process equipment, pipefitting techniques, and safety practices.

QUALIFICATIONS : Enrollment in or completion of a recognized apprenticeship program, in pipefitting. 1 year’s experience as a pipefitter or labourer in a relevant department, demonstrating proficiency in fabrication techniques would be considered an asset.

Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment physical, alcohol, and drug test Familiarity with various pipe materials / grades would be considered an asset.

Basic understanding of engineering drawings and technical specifications Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions closely.
