The Company

Our client is hiring a Legal Assistant to support their Commercial Litigation group. You will play a crucial role within a dynamic team, leveraging your expertise to enhance the service provided to valued clients while making a substantial impact.

This role is supporting a new lawyer to the firm!

The Role

As a Litigation Legal Assistant, your main responsibilities will include :

  • Draft and prepare legal documents, presentations, and correspondence, ensuring accuracy and proper format.
  • Compile records and briefs as needed, and manage service and filing of legal documents with courts.
  • Manage and track deadlines, appointments, and lawyers' calendars, scheduling as necessary.
  • Open, close, and maintain physical and electronic files, including detailed client lists and electronic filing systems.
  • Handle internal and external communications, including calls, mail, and emails, responding as appropriate.
  • Enter dockets into accounting software and manage monthly accounts for accuracy.
  • Manage client inquiries, update contact lists in CRM, and collaborate with the Marketing and BD department.
  • Perform general administrative tasks, including scheduling, travel arrangements, and supporting colleagues.

The ideal candidate will come with the following qualifications :

  • 3-5 years of relevant litigation experience.
  • Post-secondary education with a Legal Assistant Diploma or Law Clerk certificate.
  • Strong knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, statutes, and the Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Proficient in legal software, MS Office 365, and PDF tools (Kofax Power PDF / Adobe).
  • Ability to work independently under tight deadlines and adapt to new technologies.
  • Familiar with scheduling and filing processes.
  • Strong attention to detail, proofreading skills, and a commitment to quality service.
