The opportunity
As a Tax Manager, you will join a team of experienced and knowledgeable tax professionals providing corporate and partnership tax compliance and tax provisioning services for our clients in various industries.
You will also have opportunities to work on organizational structuring, tax planning and provide on call advice.
Your key responsibilities
Managers in our Tax practice participate in and supervise multiple and challenging tax engagements and to contribute to the delivery of compliance services and innovative tax planning ideas for our diverse clients.
Core Elements of the role include
- Demonstrating a thorough understanding of tax concepts and application of tax knowledge as it relates to corporate Federal and state income tax compliance, income tax provision review and income tax provision preparation
- Leading preparation and reviews of corporate and partnership tax returns for multinational clients and income tax provisions for both public and private companies.
- Conducting tax research at federal and state levels, thoroughly analyzing cross-border tax issues and drafting technical memos related to specific client matters
- Developing and delivering innovative tax planning ideas with timely and responsive services and work product that meet or exceed client expectations.
- Preparing practical and creative solutions to the client's tax situation and arriving at appropriate conclusions.
- Leading the development of tax recommendations and implementation plans.
- Making informed decisions in complex and judgmental areas.
- Establishing and maintaining long-term working relationships with clients.
- Pursuing and sharing knowledge to develop professionally and enhance service delivery.
- Identifying and selling opportunities for tax planning and other special services.
- Leveraging technology to continually maximize productivity.
- Participating in national initiatives.
- Encouraging communication and effectively supervising team members.
- Participating in recruiting efforts when necessary.
- Contributing to a flexible, stable, and team-oriented working culture that fosters personal development.
To qualify for the role you must have
- An undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Law or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Tax
- A CPA designation or be a member in good standing of a state bar, or an IRS Enrolled Agent
- A background in tax compliance and accounting for corporate income tax as well as a broad understanding of federal, state and local income or franchise tax
- A commitment to continuous learning and sharing the knowledge with junior staff members
- Strong software skills, including but not limited to proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with tax applications and research tools such as GoSystems, OneSource, CCH, and Checkpoint.
- The ability to analyze complex data from multiple sources and a high attention to detail
- The ability to prioritize when working on multiple projects and manage client relationships by ensuring data quality, teaming, and timely deliverables
- Experience with REIT taxation and partnership allocations in the private equity or real estate industry is an asset.
Ideally, you’ll also have
- tax experience for real-estate or private equity entities
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, professional services environment
- A high level of drive, motivation and commitment in conjunction with a mature, proactive approach to work
