In the role of Director of Nursing Academic Practice, you will enhance our capacity to deliver exceptional nursing care and patient outcomes at Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital.

By identifying trends and best practices, you'll ensure our nursing team maintains the highest levels of care and adapts to changes in scope of practice as directed by regulatory bodies.

In this role you will : Develop, implement and evaluate nursing professional care delivery models within the context of the interprofessional team Develop and evaluate standards for effective optimization of Health Human Resources (HHR) to manage patient surge and health system pressures Play a critical role in surge planning and bed mapping ensuring adequate, complimentary and competent staffing mix and interprofessional model of care Be the content matter expert for nursing practice including legal and regulatory requirements (scope of practice, credentialing) responsible to interpret and develop standards of care in alignment with best practice and evidence Assess nursing practice, review critical incidents and events, identify risks, develop and implement quality initiatives to ensure continuous quality improvement (systemic quality initiatives) Develop risk assessment and mitigation strategies to ensure fundamentals of care are met Promote, implement and assess new technology to optimize patient care delivery technology enabled care and delivery lead clinical product reviews, develop education, implement, evaluate and plan for replacement cycle Provide consult to operational leadership in identifying, managing and resolving competency, conduct and capacity practice issues for nurses across the organization.

Implement practice improvement plans for nurses requiring remediation, mandatory reporting Oversee new nursing documentation requirements, leveraging evidence, best practice and technological advances to support clinical decision-making Lead the development and implementation of a professional development and continuing education plan Develop and monitor key performance indicators, including managing performance and reporting Identify and launch strategic projects in alignment with corporate objectives related to operational issues including quality improvement, resources utilization, staffing, standardization and productivity Hours (subject to change) : M-F 37.

5 hours per week; due to the leadership nature of this role, applicants must be flexible to work additional / varied hours as required.

Job Requirements : Mandatory Minimum 5 years of recent, relevant experience in a nursing leadership, advance practice or similar position A Master’s Degree in either Nursing, Health Administration, Policy, Education or related field Current registration, in good standing, with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) Preferred Current cross-appointment or eligibility for cross-appointment to an academic institution Skills and Knowledge Excellent verbal, presentation, written and interpersonal communication skills Strong knowledge base in professional practice legislation and regulation Proficient in clinical operations and performance management, with a strong capability to oversee and optimize hospital functions Highly skilled in creating and evaluating policies to ensure compliance and align with best practices Strong financial management skills, with a keen understanding of budgeting, cost control, and resource allocation Expertise in applying quality improvement principles to health care settings, coupled with robust project management skill If this sounds like you and you feel ready to build your career within nursing leadership, apply now and let us know why you’d be a great addition to our team.
