About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Program Manager, Wound Prevention and Management Program, Interprofessional Practice and Learning (IPP&L), the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for Pressure Injury Prevention Support is responsible (in collaboration with key stakeholders) for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of facility and unit-based pressure injury initiatives.
This LPN works with unit and facility based teams and plays a key role in supporting education related to existing and new pressure injury prevention strategies and the translation of knowledge to practice related to pressure injury prevention.
The prime focus of the LPN for Pressure Injury Prevention Support is to support capacity building and be present at the point of care to contribute to advancing pressure injury prevention practice within teams in Central Zone.
Practices within the LPN professional, legal, and ethical standards and is accountable for actions and decisions.
The LPN in this role, demonstrates competency in pressure injury prevention practice, program / practice implementation, monitoring and evaluation of education, leadership, and professional practice.
The LPN exhibits the knowledge, attitudes and behaviors that align with the Interprofessional Practice and Learning Framework.
This framework is grounded in theories of adult and concept-based learning, practice development, fundamentals of care and collaborative learning and practice.
Please note this position requires travel to facilities within Central zone, having the most frequent travel between Halifax Infirmary and Abbie J Lane Memorial Building.
Access to reliable transportation is required.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following :
- Graduate of an accredited program for Licensed Practical Nurses required
- Current LPN registration (in good standing) with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing required
- Minimum of 3 years full time clinical experience within the last 5 years in an area with exposure to pressure injury prevention and management practices required
- BLS-C (HCP) certification required
- Skin Wellness Associate Nurse (SWAN) certification an asset or willingness to complete
- Working knowledge on best practices for pressure injury prevention
- Evidence of effective interpersonal and communication skills in varied contexts
- Demonstrated initiative and innovative problem solving
- Skilled in the facilitation of practice development
- Computer skills including, Complete Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Computer documentation systems.
- Skills and experience in promoting learning cultures that nurture equity, diversity and inclusivity with a focus on intersectional values, analysis, and actions, clinical humility, and the responsible use of power and privilege.
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours of Work
Long Assignment, Full-Time (75 hours bi-weekly)

Compensation and Incentives
$31.12 - $35.11 hourly
$60, - $68, annually
$36.33 hourly ($70, annually) with 25 years' Licensed Practical Nursing experience
