Tile Estimator

Shane Homes Group of Companies, a leading residential production home builder, constructing quality new homes in premier communities since 1979 has an opportunity for a Tile Estimator to join its Cost Control department.

Position Overview :

The role of the Tile Estimator is focused on the control and cost reduction with accurate cost control methods and consistent review of pricing.

Ensure proper communication levels between Construction, Sales and Estimating at Shane Homes and with sub trades and supplier partners.

The goal of the Department is to provide consistent and accurate budgets in a timely manner with the lowest Price possible while maintaining high quality materials and craftsmanship as per the specification and scope of work required.

Strong organizational skills and communication skills are required with a consistent ability to work in a collaborative driven team environment.

Responsibilities :

Responsible for all tile supply and installation pricing

Responsible for establishing and maintaining the Tile option pricing for the Interior Design Center.

Responsible for pricing of tile areas for new plans and options whenever necessary.

Responsible for bringing or introducing new innovative Tile products, techniques, and changes. Bring ideas forward to the Purchasing and Cost Control Manager and the Interior Design Manager.

Develop relationships with subcontractors and suppliers committed to reducing costs and waste yet increasing service. Bring forward any issues subcontractors and Suppliers associated with Tile supply and Tile installation to the Purchasing and Cost Control Manager.

Assist in achieving a high level of customer satisfaction through the selection of products, vendors and building techniques.

Constantly review our Tile display items and assist in updating to current consumer demands and tastes.

Create accurate budgets for all check sets, change orders for which you are responsible. Cost all Tile related items on Design Change Orders

Ensure all correspondence received is clear and accurate before processing and sending on to the appropriate personnel or sub trades.

Research and approve all over budget invoices or variances, for which you are responsible. Review all tile related invoices.

Identify and correct any tile related errors found in base budgets or options immediately.

Provide consistent and strong support for the Cost Control Department, Interior Design, Estimating, Project Managers and Service Personnel.

It is the goal of the department that all estimators be equally proficient with the Timberline, Precision Builder, Home Front Software and Supplier Web Access software.

Self-improvement programs / courses for both personal and Professional development is encouraged at the supervisor’s discretion.

Reconcile Tile cost codes for estimating month end closing statements.

Responsible for establishing and maintaining all items sold in the design centre.

Review and maintain the design centre price book report on weekly basis.

Review and maintain the common design / global option price book report on bi-weekly basis.

Qualifications and Requirements :

Direct experience working on the above referenced accountabilities.

Experience working within the residential home construction industry considered an asset.

Experience in flooring and tile considered an asset.

Experience working with Timberline, Precision Builder, Home Front Softwares.

Excellent communication; Exceptional verbal and non-verbal communication skills.

Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multitask in a multi-faceted work environment.

Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize workload. Keen eye for attention to detail and accuracy.
