Business Development Manager

The Role
Perseus is currently scaling their Business Development function. The role is to make contact, introduce Constellation Software and build strong relationships with founders / CEOs of software companies around the world.
Success is defined as making and maintaining connections, having clients sign LOI's and ultimately, the acquisition of the software companies that Business Development Managers have relationships with.
This introduction, maintaining relationships, and ultimately being considered for an acquisition by Constellation may take years.
This said, measurable outcomes and the continuous value-add in conversations and market research is what allows successful acquisitions to come to fruition.
Outcomes :
- Develop and manage pipeline and market maps to build strong relationships in assigned vertical(s)
- All BDMs are required to meet and exceed monthly M&A targets, such as meaningful contacts and NDAs signed in addition to more controllable measurable metrics.
- Work autonomously to qualify M&A opportunities with efficiency
- Ensure the lead database is allocated accurately within the BDM's portfolio verticals
- Effectively qualify opportunities at the top-end of the funnel to maintain focus for BU PMs concerning M&A efforts
- Have a meaningful impact on Perseus Group over a successful tenure in-role
- Responsible for sourcing / originating 8-10M in capital deployed per year by year 2.
Relevant Experience & Competencies :
2-4 years of experience in a Business Development position at a software company or a similar M&A role within business development, sales, and / or account management.
Preference for experience in Outbound-focused roles.
- A clear interest in developing a long-term pipeline of meaningful relationships with prospects as a career trajectory within software investing.
- Previous high-performance in Business Development, winning in an autonomous role or, prior success in other walks of life outside professional BD experience
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills with confidence and polish to speak with CEOs, other prospects, lawyers, accountants, and business intermediaries.
- Organized, detail oriented, and able to work variable hours.
- Extraordinary work ethic, proactive with a sense of urgency.
