What You'll Do
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with management and department heads to identify safety objectives, goals, and performance metrics.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and work areas to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead safety orientations, training sessions, and workshops for employees to promote awareness and best practices.
- Investigate incidents, and near misses, analyzing root causes and recommending preventive measures.
- Review and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and make continuous improvements as needed.
- Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and emerging safety technologies to ensure the organization remains up to date and compliant.
- Serve as the point of contact for safety-related inquiries, concerns, and reporting.
- Collaborate with external agencies, contractors, and vendors to ensure safety standards are met.
- Prepare and submit safety reports, documentation, and incident reports as required.
- Assist in emergency response planning and conduct drills and exercises as necessary.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement among employees at all levels.
- This role is required to be available on weekends to address safety issues.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Science, or a related field.
- Has or is working towards the following designations : Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP); Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent safety certifications is preferred,
- Proven experience as a Safety Advisor or a similar role, with a strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices.
- Excellent knowledge of safety management systems, risk assessment, and hazard identification.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and train employees at all levels.
- Detail-oriented and analytical, with the ability to conduct thorough safety assessments and investigations.
- Ability to leverage technology to advance our safety systems and practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing safety requirements and priorities.
