Job Description

CPP Investments is looking for a Managing Director, Retirement & Benefits (MDRB) who is a highly motivated and strategic leader.

Reporting to the Managing Director, Total Rewards, this role will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and managing retirement and benefits programs that promote employee well-being, align with our global strategies, and meet local requirements.

As the thought partner as well as the primary health and wellbeing advisor, and implementation lead, on all matters related to retirement and benefits, you will help the Talent team achieve our annually defined business strategies and objectives.

You will be located in Toronto, and you will oversee programs in all of our global offices and work with other Talent centers of excellence and Talent Business Partners to deliver on your mandate.

You will also Manage the team of retirement and benefits professionals, including providing them with guidance and mentorship, and fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.

As the ideal candidate, you are known for your strong judgement and expertise on complex Retirement and Benefits issues and strategic insight on employee wellbeing.

You have a creative and pragmatic approach to HR, and have experience in shaping the benefits, retirement and wellbeing space with data driven insights.

You have an outstanding record of program management, developed in a knowledge-based industry and in complex, fast-paced environments.

You understand how rewards programs bring competitive advantage to people-based businesses. You enjoy proactively leading initiatives and change throughout an organization, and you are a highly effective communicator who builds relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders.

You partner well with other teams and functions to bring solutions to your mandate and the wider organization.

You will be accountable for :

  • Ensuring all Retirement and Benefits programs align with the firm's Total Rewards strategy of putting the employee experience at the center of the design and using data driven insights to guide your recommendations.
  • Partnering with relevant teams and business partners to proactively identify and prioritize the most critical issues and opportunities for action through strategic review.
  • Ensuring execution of talent priorities in partnership with the Talent Department centres of excellence, and other areas across CPP Investments’ such as employee resource groups.
  • Advising Senior Managing Directors (C-Suite) and Managing Directors to help build understanding of benefits programs support employee well-being and are locally relevant, yet globally aligned.
  • Support the Talent Solutions and Services team as they manage all aspects of benefits administration, including health and wellness, retirement, time-off, and employee assistance programs
  • Lead the communication efforts for pension / savings / benefits to ensure understanding and perceived value by employees
  • Ensure all benefits programs comply with current laws and regulations
  • Exemplifying our Guiding Principles of integrity, partnership and high performance.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in human resources, with significant experience in a Benefits / Retirement lead role, ideally in an investment management, financial services, or professional services organization
  • Strong knowledge of benefits programs, policies, procedures, and applicable legislation in at least two locations where we have global offices
  • Excellent advisory skills and ability to influence senior audiences
  • Track record of leading change initiatives and executing in complex situations
  • A collaborative approach and an ability to partner with business leaders
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage at both the tactical and strategic levels in a complex, global environment
  • Familiarity with HRIS and benefits administration systems
