The Westin Toronto Airport is seeking a Receiver with strong organizational skills and experience in logistics and inventory management.
This role is ideal for someone dedicated to maintaining and administering the receiving operations in the hotel to ensure the best quality products and the most economical prices for the hotel.
The receiver ensures the secure storage and distribution of products. Reports directly to the Executive Chef. Join our team and play a crucial role in creating a personal, instinctive, and renewing environment for our guests.
What will you be doing?
- Record all received items from carriers and deliver them to the appropriate location.
- Receive orders by physically checking off invoices to ensure products received match those ordered.
- Maintain cleanliness of all storage areas, fridges, and coolers; communicate inventories with Finance.
- Maintain cleanliness of the loading dock.
- Keep all carrier items in an orderly fashion.
- Maintain monthly inventory by managing FIFO (First In, First Out) method, including updating prices due to fluctuations, collecting all inventory count sheets, managing transfers (food to bar, bar to food liquor), sending results to accounting, verifying accuracy, and making adjustments if necessary.
- Assist with physical food and beverage inventories.
- Ensure proper authorization for the release of product and account for any issues.
- Control product and owner's assets to prevent loss through theft or spoilage.
- Prepare reports as requested, including internal food and beverage costs, to develop a more informative database for improved management decision-making and critical evaluation of work activities.
- Review, evaluate, and reconcile end-of-month food and beverage results and reports with the Director of Finance.
- Ensure the hotel receives the quantity of merchandise ordered at the quoted price; code and process all invoices.
- Ship out and receive all items from carriers, including hotel and guest packages.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
What are the requirements for this role?
- High school education or equivalent experience. A post-secondary degree in accounting is an asset.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in shipping and receiving, accounting, or food and beverage; previous hotel experience is an asset.
- Able to safely perform heavy lifting and carry packages up to 50 lbs. consecutively.
- Able to communicate effectively with all levels : guests, employees, and management.
- Excellent organizational skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must work well under pressure and be able to prioritize tasks.
- Able to remain stationary for extended periods of time.
- Capable of standing up and moving about the kitchen.
- Proficient in bending, stooping, and kneeling.
- Other : Communication skills (written and oral) are utilized extensively when interacting with other cooks, wait staff, or and writing abilities are frequently used when preparing meals from a recipe, assisting in scheduling kitchen staff, or keeping track of position requires strong problem-solving and reasoning skills, including basic math, percentages, quantities, and variances, are frequently awareness certification and / or food service permit or valid health / food handler card, as required by local or provincial government be required to work nights, weekends, and / or holidays.
