As a Senior Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of payroll processing for our organization.

This includes administering payroll for a diverse workforce spread across multiple provinces in Canada, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and maintaining accurate payroll records.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in standalone payroll operations, possess a PCP Certification, and demonstrate proficiency in Ceridian Dayforce.

Responsibilities

  • Execute semi-monthly payroll processing for approximately 450 employees across Canada, including Ontario, British Columbia, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, and Alberta.
  • Manage payroll activities for both salaried and hourly employees, including processing new hires, terminations, benefits, and retros.
  • Administer RRSPs, benefits, workers' compensation, and other payroll-related deductions.
  • Prepare payroll journal entries and ensure accurate recording of financial transactions.
  • Generate comprehensive reports to support payroll analysis and decision-making.
  • Oversee benefits administration and ensure timely reconciliation of payroll-related accounts.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process enhancements and efficiencies to optimize payroll operations.
  • Facilitate clear and effective communication with internal stakeholders, including HR, Finance, and employees, regarding payroll matters.
  • Stay updated on relevant legislation and regulatory changes to ensure compliance with payroll laws and regulations.

Qualifications

  • PCP Certification is required.
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in payroll processing and administration.
  • Proficiency in Ceridian Dayforce or similar payroll software.
  • Experience managing standalone payroll operations is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll regulations and legislation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in payroll processing.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to process improvement.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
