Job Summary

The Team

The Operations Team at the Office of the Lieutenant Governor is a close-knit group of five, working together within a larger team of 20 staff members.

The team plays a vital role in coordinating and supporting constitutional, ceremonial, diplomatic, and administrative activities, ensuring the smooth operation of Government House, a National Historic Site.

Team members are passionate about their work, coming together to support Her Honour's programs and initiatives while delivering exceptional service to all who interact with the office.

The Role

As the Operations Manager at the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, you'll play a key role in managing the estate, overseeing facility projects, and coordinating executive communications and finances.

This unique position supports event logistics, facility maintenance, and property management, while fostering strong relationships with contractors and volunteers.

Qualifications :

Education and Experience Requirements

Completion of relevant post-secondary education (Business, Hospitality Management, Volunteer Coordination, Accounting etc.

and a minimum of two (2) years *related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Related Experience must include :

  • supervising operational staff and volunteers (assignment of work, development and evaluation of performance plans, scheduling and approval of leave).
  • portfolio management experience, for multiple high priority projects involving diverse partners under critical time constraints, specifically in the areas of project management and facility management.
  • overseeing maintenance, repair and replacement activities (preferably in a heritage building / facility) related to buildings and equipment contained within i.

e., heating / cooling systems, landscaping, commercial kitchens, lighting etc.

  • working in the field of protocol, and / or event management, and / or heritage.
  • dealing with highly confidential and sensitive issues preferably in a government setting.
  • leading amongst a large compliment of people in a non-union and casual staff environment, including volunteers and external contractors.
  • executing safety, first aid and emergency evacuation plans.
  • working with business continuity planning in a provincial / federal or municipal government environment.
  • Experience working with management Board functions.
  • Experience performing stewardship of significant public spaces / buildings and knowledge of provincial horticulture.
  • Strong organizational experience to manage diverse workloads effectively and independently.
  • Financial literacy and administration experience, including budget monitoring, accounts payable and receivable, and the ability to read, understand, and analyze financial statements.
  • Valid B.C. Drivers' License.

Preference may be given to applicants who have :

  • more than two years related experience.
  • who identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit).
  • experience that has been gained in a Provincial / Federal / Municipal Government setting.
