Job description

Experience Aviva

Individually we are people, but together we are Aviva. Individually these are just words, but together they are our Values – Care, Commitment, Community, and Confidence.

At Aviva Canada, we put people first, our employees, our customers, and our communities. We’re proud of a culture built on care, inclusion, and collaboration, where your voice matters and your growth is supported. We’re not just about insurance; we’re about making a real difference by protecting what matters most.

The opportunity

Join a dynamic team where you'll play a key role in supporting Aviva's reinsurance and delegated claims programs. As a Claims Analyst, you'll manage claims and financial bordereaux. You will support trust fund and reinsurance processes. You will also conduct financial transaction audits and work with colleagues and external partners to ensure accurate and efficient claims administration. This position offers exposure to multiple lines of business and the opportunity to contribute to program governance, financial oversight, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives across a diverse portfolio.

Come join our team!

What you’ll do

Program Administration

  • Receive, review, and process claims and reinsurance bordereaux
  • Co-ordinate payments with our reinsurance department, or centralized payment unit as necessary
  • Accurately enter and maintain claims, incidents, reserves, payments, recoveries, and financial transactions within Guidewire ClaimCenter.
  • Ensure claims and resinsurance information is processed within established account-specific SLAs and service commitments.
  • Monitor delegated authority claims programs and reinsurance arrangements to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and Aviva standards.
  • Review and manage incidents and claims within Guidewire ClaimCenter.
  • Maintain complete and accurate claim records and documentation.

Program Governance & Oversight

  • Build and maintain a detailed understanding of your delegated claims authority programs, claims handling agreements, and underwriting schemes as well as any reinsurance arrangements.
  • Partner with Claims Service Managers, Reinsurance and Underwriting teams to understand program structures, operating requirements, authority levels, and reporting expectations.
  • Keep claims and reinsurance operations teams informed of program updates, changes, and emerging issues.
  • Support the Claims Service Manager in drafting, reviewing, and maintaining Claims Handling Agreements and related documentation.
  • Ensure agreements are accurate, clearly worded, and aligned with business requirements and operational practices.

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Review monthly bordereaux and management reports to ensure financial accuracy, integrity, and completeness.
  • Monitor reserve adequacy and identify trends, concerns, or discrepancies requiring escalation.
  • Reconcile financial information between external reporting and internal claims systems.
  • Uphold Aviva's financial reputation by ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant claim and reinsurance payments.
  • Identify and investigate reporting discrepancies and work with partners to achieve resolution.

Partner & Stakeholder Management

  • Maintain strong business relationships with internal collaborators, including Reinsurance, Underwriting, Claims, Finance, Risk, and Operations teams.
  • Serve as a liaison with delegated claims handling partners regarding claims data, financial reporting, operational concerns, and process inquiries.
  • Represent Aviva in addressing claims reporting issues, questions, and concerns, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Attend regular meetings with internal and external customers and their representatives as required.
  • Foster collaborative relationships that support operational excellence and program success.

Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement

  • Carry out periodic quality assurance reviews and audits of delegated claims authority programs and bordereaux submissions.
  • Find opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, reporting accuracy, and data integrity.
  • Consult with stakeholders on the design, development, and implementation of best practices for delegated claims administration.
  • Assist in the development of processes, controls, workflows, and reporting standards that improve program oversight.
  • Escalate emerging risks, operational issues, and control concerns appropriately.

What you’ll bring

Technical Knowledge

  • Knowledge of commercial property and casualty insurance claims operations.
  • Understanding of delegated claims authority programs, TPAs, MGAs, and claims administration practices.
  • Knowledge of reinsurance arrangements and workflows
  • Familiarity with Guidewire ClaimCenter or similar claims management systems.
  • Understanding of financial reporting, claims reserving principles, and claims accounting processes.
  • Strong data management and analytical capabilities.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer and relationship management capabilities.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Proven organizational and time-management skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.

Personal Attributes

  • Collaborative and customer-focused.
  • Proactive and driven to find effective answers.
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement.

What you’ll get

  • The salary band for this position ranges from $85,000 to $105,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
  • Compelling rewards package including base compensation, eligibility for annual bonus, retirement savings, share plan, health benefits, personal wellness, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Hybrid flexible work model.
  • Outstanding career development opportunities.
  • We’ll support your professional development education.
  • Competitive vacation package with the option to purchase 5 extra days off per year.
  • Employee-driven programs focused on gender, LGBTQ+, origins, diversity, and inclusion.
