Job description
Join Schneider Electric's Utility Scale Solar Services team and play a key role in supporting a portfolio of renewable energy and power conversion technologies deployed around the world. In this role, you'll help ensure the long-term reliability, performance and supportability of products that continue to serve customers under long-term service agreements.
Working as part of a small and highly collaborative engineering team, you'll take ownership of software and firmware environments, investigate technical issues, support internal engineering teams and contribute to preserving critical product knowledge across multiple product lines. This position offers a unique opportunity to build deep expertise in complex industrial technologies while working alongside experienced technical specialists.
You'll be exposed to a broad range of challenges, from software and firmware support to troubleshooting, testing, documentation and system analysis.
You'll also play an important role in capturing and transferring technical knowledge, helping ensure the continued success of products that have been deployed across the global energy landscape. If you enjoy understanding how complex systems work, solving technical problems, learning from experienced engineers and taking ownership of meaningful work, you'll find a high level of autonomy, collaboration and impact in this role. What you'll be doing * Become a key contributor supporting a portfolio of complex renewable energy and power conversion products deployed worldwide. * Support software and firmware systems throughout their lifecycle, helping ensure their ongoing reliability, performance and maintainability. * Investigate technical issues, perform root-cause analysis and work with internal teams to resolve complex software-related challenges. * Maintain and improve development environments, source code repositories and engineering tools used across multiple product lines. * Develop Python-based tools and automation solutions that support product maintenance, troubleshooting and engineering workflows. * Partner with service and cloud development teams to support testing activities, product integrations and technical problem-solving. * Build a deep understanding of existing products, software architectures and engineering systems through hands-on analysis and investigation. * Capture and document technical knowledge to help preserve expertise and improve supportability for future teams. * Participate in a structured knowledge-transfer process, learning from experienced technical specialists while progressively expanding your own product expertise. What you bring * Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or another related technical discipline. * Experience supporting, maintaining or developing software solutions within a product-based technology environment, with a genuine interest in understanding how complex systems operate and evolve. * A proven ability to investigate technical challenges, analyze root causes and develop practical solutions in complex engineering environments. * The ability to work independently, take initiative and confidently navigate technically complex situations while collaborating effectively with others when needed. * Hands-on experience with modern software development practices, including source code management tools such as Git or GitHub. * Experience developing applications, tools or automation solutions using Python or a comparable programming language. * Strong analytical thinking and a natural curiosity for understanding existing systems, legacy applications and codebases. * Experience creating clear technical documentation that helps preserve knowledge, improve maintainability and support long-term product success. * Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build productive relationships across multidisciplinary engineering and technical teams. * A willingness to continuously learn, expand your technical expertise and develop deep product knowledge within a highly specialized engineering environment. You might also have * Experience supporting software and firmware-based products in industrial or technology-driven environments, with a strong interest in understanding how complex systems operate and evolve over time. * Experience working across the product lifecycle, whether in sustaining engineering, product engineering, technical support or similar roles focused on maintaining, improving and supporting existing technologies. * Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and navigate existing software systems and codebases, using sound technical judgment and strong problem-solving skills. * Experience working with software development tools and environments, including source control, testing, build management and deployment processes. * Understanding of embedded technologies, industrial communication systems and the interaction between software, firmware and hardware components. * Exposure to renewable energy, power conversion, energy storage, power electronics or other industrial technology sectors is considered an asset. * Interest in working with connected products, cloud-enabled platforms and modern cybersecurity practices. * Strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset and a genuine curiosity for learning new technologies, documenting knowledge and continuously expanding technical expertise.
