Job description

DUTIES

The Department of Data Science requires a sessional instructor to teach a variety of courses in the Cybersecurity program. These courses may include areas such as foundational computing studies, Python programming, cybersecurity fundamentals, ethical hacking, database basics, operating systems security, Linux and Windows basics, networking, virtualization, infrastructure design, and integrated security practices.

Duties include delivering lectures, labs, and seminars, as well as marking assignments, quizzes, tests, and examinations. The course is already developed and has been offered on a regular basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating student learning through classroom instruction, laboratory activities, and practical exercises focused on Python programming and cybersecurity applications. The ability to teach in this area and contribute to student success in an applied learning environment will be considered an asset.

Other courses may be assigned depending on departmental needs and the qualifications and expertise of the candidate.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of key areas in cybersecurity, including fundamentals, ethical hacking, operating systems security, Linux and Windows security basics, networking, virtualization, infrastructure design, integrated security practices, and Python programming as applied to cybersecurity.
  • University-level teaching experience in programming, cybersecurity, network security, or related computing courses.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness through teaching evaluations, curriculum development, instructional innovation, or a teaching dossier.
  • Experience with applied cybersecurity tools, secure coding practices, and hands-on laboratory instruction.
  • Strong communication skills and fluency in spoken and written English.
