Job description

Position Summary

: This course provides an introduction to the elements and skills of the four art strands presented in the Primary/Junior Ontario Curriculum, and the essential role of creativity in student development. In addition to exploring effective planning, instruction, and assessment in the arts, this course will model hands on, inclusive, and equitable practices that develop creative, performance, and analytical skills in the arts. This course will introduce models and theories of cognition and motivation that will support teacher candidates as they develop the skills to teach in innovative and creative ways through integrating the arts. Through collaborative, cross-curricular planning, teacher candidates will explore the use of multiple modalities that make learning accessible and that help learners to construct their own unique knowledge.

Successful candidate will work with the course lead and/or team in order to provide consistency across sections.

Qualifications – Required Academic Degree: Master’s degree in Education, or related Arts Certification; Bachelor of Education and/or K – 10 Teaching Certification; Grades K–6 Ontario teaching experience in the Arts, including integrating the Arts within primary/junior grades
