The Senior System Administrator is responsible for provisioning, installing, configuring and providing the maintenance of systems hardware, software and related backend infrastructure for servers and storage.

YOU'LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO :

  • Participate in technical research and development to promote innovation within the infrastructure environment.
  • Assist project teams with planning and technical issues.
  • Review purchase justifications and infrastructure cost estimates prepared by team members to ensure quality.
  • Prepare infrastructure proposals and papers.
  • Provide support and technical assistance to operational support staff as well as all system users if needed.
  • Manage Windows and Linux Servers, Active Directory Domain Services, Email systems, VMware technologies, SCCM, SAN storage, high availability systems and Microsoft Azure.
  • Configure, monitor, and manage Backup Software, Servers, Patch Management, Anti-Virus.
  • Lead in assigned incident’s resolution and documentation.
  • Monitor the performance of servers, software and hardware.
  • Approve detailed technical designs and if required, update the technical documentation.
  • Review and approve technical quotes received from vendors.
  • Review and approve technical documentation and procedures.
  • Provide level 3 support for service desk.
  • Provide off-hours on call support for critical production systems if necessary.

YOU’LL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES :

  • College Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related fields. Or equivalent work experience.
  • 7 to 10 years’ experience.
  • Excellent knowledge on infrastructure technologies (servers, virtualization, networking, end user computing, etc.).
  • Technical knowledge of current networking hardware (routers, switches, access points, etc.).
  • Windows and Linux operating systems experience.
  • Good knowledge of at least one scripting language.
  • Experience with High-Availability environments.
  • Server and SAN storage hardware experience.
  • Virtualization experience (VMware).
  • Data Protection experience.
  • Knowledge of system security techniques.
  • Bilingualism (French & English).
  • High level of analytical and independent problem-solving abilities, self-direction.
  • Strong communication skills and technical writing skills.
  • Effective negotiation skills, able to facilitate collaboration between stakeholders with differing opinions.
  • Ability to provide technical support in a professional manner.
  • Ability to conduct research into technical issues and products as required.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to determine root cause.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to lead IT projects by coordinating upgrades, application delivery, and a variety of other projects that may not have a dedicated project manager.
  • Project management experience.
