Completed US Federal Student Aid Training for Foreign Schools, or eligible to complete the certification process.After-hour commitments may be required at times.

This position evaluates and reports on service utilization and outcomes for all programs.Articulate a vision for how Financial Aid can contribute to UNB's strategic goals and boost retention and persistence by fostering student financial success.

Lead the development, coordination, promotion and evaluation of financial aid programs and services.Offer direct support to students seekign financial aid, connecting them to tadditional campus and community resources as appropriate.

Provide expertise on the Canada Student Financial Assistance Act and Federal / Provincial guidelines.Interpret and apply complex academic and financial policies and procedures to various complex and / or unusual student situations.

Provide expert guidance on student financial assistance and bursary-award management.Recruit, hire, mentor, and provide performance evaluation staff and student hires.

Remain current with and share emerging developments, trends, and technologies relevant to student financial success to ensure optimum service is being provided.

Initiate policy and procedures, revisions, and adjustments to meet changing needs.Identify areas of award management's weakness and develop related risk mitigation policies concerning needs-based funding at UNB.

Inform and update Financial Aid, Financial Services and Senior Administration concerning regulatory changes.Support and advise senior management in planning, developing, and implementing administrative procedures and processes to enhance bursary support and ensure compliance with sponsor requirements.

Disseminate information regarding the disbursement of awards for annual reports / information documents.Analyze the needs of the student populations across campuses and provide recommendations.

Collaborate with federal, provincial, and US state stakeholders to provide feedback on funding options.Supervise the management of workflows for staff to adjust to peak periods.

Ensure succession planning and cross-training activities are designed to meet anticipated future needs.Conceptualize and guide the development of new initiatives to aid student financial success.

Provide leadership and guidance on the United States Department of Education Title IV rules and regulations. Ensure that the monitoring framework established for meeting those compliance responsibilities is met.

Ensure key stakeholders are compliant with such requirements.Advise on interpreting financial policies related to fee assessments for American-based student assistance.

Review and assess student records to determine academic standing. Inform students and Academic Advisors of changes that impact student financial assistance funding.

Allocate and prepare an annual budget for submission to the Senior Director, Student Affairs.Prepare and submit funding proposals to outside agencies.

WHAT YOU BRINGUndergraduate degree required.5 years of related experience.Experience in managing, supervising, mentoring, team building and conflict resolution.

Additional StrengthsMaster's degree is considered a strong asset.Strong working knowledge of Federal and Provincial / Territorial Student Loan Programs and funding for Indigenous students.

Demonstrated knowledge in the following areas : student development theory, financial literacy, strategic enrollment management standards, data analysis and research, strategic planning, risk management, contract negotiation, and project management.

Demonstrated ability to exercise tact, discretion, and sensitivity to confidential matters.Previous experience with Colleague is an asset.

Exceptional ability using software, databases, and web portals.Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.Able to deliver high-quality results under pressure, firm deadlines, and often evolving priorities.

Naturally curious, collaborative leader interested in new ways of doing things, adopting new technologies, continuous improvement, and lifelong learning.
