GENERAL SUMMARY

Under general supervision and reporting to the Director of Quality Operations, the Mechanical Quality Inspector is responsible for carrying out inspections and mechanical quality control required in accordance with our client's procedures and specifications.

Thanks to your technical skills, you ensure the administrative and visual inspection of the parts and product regarding the associated technical documentation.

In the event of non-compliance, you are responsible for writing a complete quality notification to make a possible return of the part.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Carry out inspections and ensure product conformity (check after rework).
  • Visually inspect mechanical work;
  • Write inspection reports and document cases of non-compliance;
  • Check compliance of subassemblies with contractual and internal requirements.
  • Records inspection results in industrial digital tools as needed.
  • Perform destructive and non-destructive examination as necessary and qualified.
  • Maintain inspection records by component, assembly, and vehicle.
  • Maintain quality documentation for components, assemblies and vehicles.
  • Participate in joint customer inspections.
  • Preparation of approval and shipping documents.
  • Check the correct calibration of critical equipment and instruments used in inspections
  • Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of :

  • Quality Standard (ISO9001, IRIS, CMMI, etc.) and quality tools
  • Drawing systems, inspection plans, and inspection coordination
  • The principles, practices, methods, and tools used in the production line
  • Handling and use of inspection tools used for length measuring techniques (mechanical, optical, electrical)

Skills :

  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to foster productive working relationships
  • Must be able to simultaneously manage several objectives
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, and self-motivated
  • Strong verbal, written and communication skills
  • Fluent French - speaking, reading and writing is required
  • Professionalism, integrity, and exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong independent decision-making skills; excellent analytical skills and professional judgment
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills, include basic Excel skills
  • Railway experience, an asset

Ability to :

  • Communicate on a regular basis with internal and external parties.
  • Handle complex situations and solve complex problems
  • Work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Press and analyze technical and business information
  • Work in a team environment with strong communication skills (verbal and written), ability to interact via telephone, email with co-workers
  • Remain seated for up to 5 hours at a time
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Fluent French - speaking, reading and writing is required
  • Pass pre-hire background

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Technical or engineering background.
  • More than 4 years of experience in quality inspection in the manufacturing industry
  • Certifications according to ONGC / CGSB MT, PT, UT or RT, an asset

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES & OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Authorized to Work in Canada
  • Fluent French - speaking, reading and writing is required
  • Pass pre-hire background
  • Reliable transportation - must have current / active drivers' license

WORKING CONDITIONS

Productivity : Incumbents must perform work in an efficient, effective, and timely manner with minimal direction.

Mobility : Incumbents are required to participate in assigned physical activities which may include light lifting and sitting for prolonged periods of time.

Vision : Vision sufficient to read printed documents, computer screens, and observe behavior of others.

Environment : Typical office conditions, directly working Quality management team, working with the TRIGO team, and external customers.

Other Factors : Typical hours worked are Monday - Friday from 8 : 00 a.m. - 5 : 00 p.m. Incumbents may be required to work occasional extended hours and weekend overtime

The employee frequently is required to use hands or finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand;

walk (approximately 1-2 Kms a day); sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Employee will occasionally drive long distances to and from various suppliers as needed.

The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 10 Kg. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
