RQ07341 - Applications Architect - Senior

The ApplicationArchitect will be responsible for the following activities anddeliverables :

• Developrecommend implement and manage the application architecture(hardware software database and communications) which will be usedfor all or specific applications in a large distributedcrossplatformenvironment.
• Defineand describe application and business architecture requirementswith clients and obtain I&IT management approval.

Developsand obtains approval for detailed plans and resource estimates forlargescale and complex information architecture projects and / orcomponents of other projects with application architectureelements.

• Undertakesand / or leads indepth and complex application architecture reviewsand assessments development and / or support projects to support newand changed enterprise priorities and initiatives and clientclusters and their clients application architecture and / or businessneeds.
• Researchesdevelops implements and maintains application architecturalpolicies and standards as approved bymanagement.
• Ensuresintegration with related corporate and client cluster policies andstandards and incorporation of best practices in theindustry.
• Providesgeneral and situationspecific application architectureinterpretation advice and expertise to other project and / orenterprise level I&IT project teams client management andstaff cluster clients and externalcontractors.
• Leadsand / or participates in highly sensitive application architectureinvestigations.
• Deliverarchitectural artefacts as required by the OPS / RUS ZachmanEnterpriseframework.
• Deliverarchitectural artefacts as required by the GOSMART methodologiesand IT gating process. (e.g. Software Architecture Document Logicalarchitecture Conceptual architecturedocument.)
• Deliverarchitectural artefacts as required by the project to successfullypass through the project review checkpoints andgateways.
• Provideleadership facilitation and presentation for the architecturedefinition and implementation of theprojects.
• Provideleadership in updating an existing architecture work plan anddesign meetings. If required participate in the selection orimplementation of acquired solutions andtools.
• Participatein the review of the artefacts in all architectural domains toensure overall architecture quality andconsistency.
• Definesolutions to accommodate the communication between the systemcomponents and the other systems that it must interact with tosupport the business and any new or modified service deliveryrequirements.
• Resolvetechnical and system problems / issues with business clients andother teams in order to ensure the project activities areimplemented.
• Ensurethe project teams develop artefacts according to Ministry standardsand
• methodologies.
• Assistin the resolution of system related issues whenneeded.
• Providepost implementationsupport.
• Assistin IT project management in the preparation and maintenance ofproject plans asrequired.
• Provideeffective knowledge transfer to Ministry staff at all stages ofthisassignment.

Skill SetRequirements :

• Leadershipexperience in the development and implementation of applicationarchitectures at the specified experiencelevel.
• Extensiveexperience with at least three different platforms (e.g. MainframeMidtier Mobile) operating systems (e.g. Solaris Windows AIXAndroid) environments database technologies (e.

g. Oracle MS SQL DB2IMS MySQL) programming languages (e.g. Java C / C PL1 Cobol C#JavaScript) and communications protocols (ftp http smtp ntp tcp / ipudpicmp)

• Knowledgeof and experience with MTO application patterns andinfrastructure
