Purpose of Position

Case Managers monitor the implementation of individualized learning programs and support Instructors with best practices.

They support instructors and families by monitoring learning progress and outcomes. The position reports to a senior manager in our education team and works collaboratively with the entire team to ensure the efficacy of service delivery.

During the summer, the position may also assist with intakes and planning for the incoming academic year .

Principal Roles and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate communication between instructors and families, and at times with schools and other professionals
  • Support instructors in administering learning assessments to evaluate student needs and strengths.
  • Evaluate RISE Learning Plans developed by instructors. Progress monitor over the academic year and recommend adjustments as they are needed.
  • Provide onboarding support and mentoring to new instructors.
  • Participate in observing instructor’s sessions and may contribute to performance reviews.
  • Attend and contribute to bi-weekly case management meetings.
  • Attend educational / instructor in-services and workshops throughout the year.
  • Participate in curriculum / program development or feedback meetings as requested.
  • Coordinate and write student debriefs to ensure individual learning goals align with clinical / assessment data
  • Tasks outside of those explicitly outlined may be expected during times of increased need*

Competencies

  • Strong oral and written abilities in English
  • Friendly / personable demeanour
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience including experience managing instructors / teachers
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field
  • Experience in inclusive education environments
  • Experience working with children and youth with diagnosed or suspected learning differences
  • Experience working with complex behavioural profiles and / or within Trauma-Informed Practices (asset)
  • Ability to use assessment strategies and instruments to identify gaps in learning
  • An understanding of the BC curriculum (K-12 preferred), or the ability to gain quick understanding
  • Criminal record check with the vulnerable sector
  • Eligibility to work in Canada for an indefinite time

Start date : As soon as possible

Reports to : Educational Senior Management Team / Manager

Hours of work : 37.5 hours per week . Typical working hours are 9 : 30-5 : 30pm Monday to Friday. Occasional pre-scheduled evenings to 7 : 30pm and Saturdays 9am to 5pm will be required to facilitate inst ructor observations and support.

Remuneration and Benefits : $57,000 - $61,000 / yr

  • Paid vacation and office closure from December 25 and January 1 that does not count toward your vacation

Location : East Vancouver Learning Centre (3292 - 3298 E Broadway & 2607 Rupert Street). Occasional pre-scheduled travel to North Vancouver, mobile, and at-school program delivery sites will be required.
