The Shop Foreman is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations in the maintenance shops. Working closely with the Service Manager and Maintenance Coordinators, the Foreman ensures the effective maintenance of all equipment and the implementation of the maintenance plan.
The Foreman is accountable for adhering to standard repair times and ensuring production efficiency. With strong leadership and decision-making skills, the Lead Hand will coach and mentor the team to achieve their full potential.
Additionally, the Foreman is responsible for all quality control measures and ensures that equipment leaving the shop meets all standards.
- Provide accurate timelines for shop jobs and updates.
- Work closely with the Service Manager and Coordinators to optimize shop operations.
- Dispatch resources to address mechanical issues in the field.
- Provide technical recommendations or solutions to field challenges.
- Manage staff and assign duties efficiently to maximize production and cross-training.
- Ensure all work is completed with PO#s and corresponding work orders are reconciled with DVIRs in a timely manner.
- Oversee employee schedules to maximize workload distribution.
- Liaise with parts to ensure adequate inventory.
- Train employees on safe work practices, including proper equipment use, cleaning guidelines, and WHMIS procedures.
- Conduct full incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Assist with maintenance needs, ensuring adequate shift coverage.
- Provide feedback to the Maintenance Planner regarding customer opinions, usage trends, and other relevant information.
- Maintain the building, equipment, and property of the shop.
- Ensure the shop is clean, organized, and equipped with proper safety documentation and signage.
- Lead and / or attend safety meetings.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

EXPEREINCE
5+ years’ experience as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic
2+ years’ experience working in a supervisory mechanic related role,
EDUCATION
High School Diploma or GED required
Red Seal Journeyman Heavy-Duty Mechanic Certification required.
B620 experience is considered an asset.
CVIP license is considered an asset.
Class 1 & 3 license is considered an asset.
