Cence is looking for a talented
Power Electronics Engineer
to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Engineering at our Markham location, the successful candidate will be responsible for improving, designing, prototyping, testing, and documenting our patented high speed fault detection technology for our high-voltage DC power distribution systems.
You will collaborate closely with other engineers on our team to ensure that designs are both elegant and efficient. You will also be exposed to our other hardware projects including wireless sensor networks, mesh networking hubs, and battery optimized power management systems, and other DC power conversion systems.

Key Responsibilities : Power Electronics - Schematic and PCB design using KiCADAssemble, solder, and test prototype PCBsBOM optimization, component selection, and datasheet analysisIn-circuit testing (ICT) and Functional testing (FCT) of PCB’sVerify product specifications and Design Validation PlanCircuit simulation using TI WebBench and other simulation softwareWork with other firmware engineers to define system architecture of our productsRapid prototyping and validation of electrical designsOptimizing designs for power, miniaturization, and costStay up to date with latest innovations and trends that are relevant to the company, and the field of DC power distributionProvide technical support during production : troubleshoot production rejects and field returns, support and / or initiate continuous improvement, design, validate and maintain high volume functional testers for production use, etc.
Liaise with manufacturers overseas as well as in Canada for mass productionOccasionally participate in customer deployments
- QualificationsExperience as a professional hardware design engineer (Preference given to those with 5+ years)Experience with Power Electronics, specifically with DC-DC conversion topologies (5+ years)Experience using Oscilloscopes and other debugging toolsExperience with RF design;
- EMI, EMC, and antennas (1+ years)Experience managing the full life cycle of a design project, from development to production releaseExtensive experience with digital / analog circuit design and PCB layout design;
Experience with circuit protection design, products and methods.Experience with designing for manufacturability, scalability and longevityTechnical report writing and drawing, writing technical documentation and sequence diagramsUnderstanding of design for certifiability to standards such as CSA and ULStrong analytical, problem solving, and leadership capabilitiesAbility to contribute and work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skills.
