Arcadis is growing! Arcadis Canada is seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer to join our Roadway and Highway Engineering team in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

This role sits within the Global Mobility Business Area. The role is to lead / manage transportation engineering activities and to contribute to the overall Mobility practice by working on projects around Ontario and Canada.

As a senior engineer / project manager, the role involves overseeing and preparing engineering deliverables such as roadway and highway preliminary and detailed designs, and traffic and transit management plans (TTMPs).

The role will include design oversight, quality control, directing junior staff and CAD designers, and coordination with other disciplines and clients.

The role will also include hiring, business development (proposals), and team management. Client presentations, reviewing designs, project financial management will be necessary.

A strong interest in mentoring and growing staff is crucial.

A wide variety of project types and tasks are available in this role. Participation in major projects is likely Arcadis is involved in several of Canada’s biggest infrastructure projects including the Ontario Line subway, Yonge North Subway extension, and Hurontario LRT.

Other projects include roadway design projects at various scales from municipal roads to major highways.

Overall, this role will be working towards and building our consulting practice, and will be given a great degree of professional freedom and support to ensure success.

Role Accountabilities :

• Act as project manager or discipline lead for transportation infrastructure engineering projects tasks including traffic management plans, preliminary design, and preliminary and detail design related projects.
• Supervising staff and undertaking and overseeing project tasks.
• Assist on major projects (P3), involving multi-disciplinary project teams, leading roadway or staging elements and tasks.
• Attend meetings including chairing meetings, communicating with and responding to client requests, and making presentations
• Managing a team and monitoring financial performance.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience :

• Post-secondary education
• 4-8 or more years of related public transit / transportation experience
• P.Eng. or eligibility for P.Eng. is an asset
• Experience in leading or participating in transportation / transit projects for municipalities and public agencies
• Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work with project or study teams
• Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, with a commitment to excellence and high-quality work
• Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills
• Innovative and motivated individual willing to take initiative and interested in seeking solutions to complex problems in a team environment
