JOB PURPOSE
The Corporate Security Officer (level 2) maintains public safety within the health care environment. Protects patients, public and staff from acts of violence with focus on prevention, early intervention and response.
As an extension of the healthcare team, provides a safe and secure working environment in support of the delivery of safe, quality care.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post secondary education in a law enforcement, public safety or security related field, or combination of equivalent education, training and experience.
- Two years of related experience.
- Must have demonstrated leadership ability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains a safe and secure working environment.
- Vigilant monitoring and patrol of assigned areas of responsibility.
- Establishes rapport with clients and staff.
- Internal first responder to acts of workplace violence.
- Provides operational leadership relating to the mitigation of security risks and threats to public safety.
- Assumes a lead role with respect to response and any required physical intervention.
- Liaises with local law enforcement.
- Maintains a safe working environment free from weapons or other prohibited items not appropriate for the healthcare environment.
- Collects, tracks and reports data pertaining to acts of violence.
- Other duties as assigned.
