Position Summary

The successful candidate will support bioinformatics / computational biology efforts of the principal investigators in our Princess Margaret Cancer Center stem cell group and be co-supervised by Dr.

Gary Bader. The stem cell group represents a diverse and world class group of scientists studying stemness in the context of both normal and malignant development.

The successful candidate will support development, analysis, and interpretation of results from : RNA-seq, scRNA-Seq, Chip-Seq, mi-RNA seq, whole genome sequencing, and chromatin conformation capture.

Duties

  • Analyze genome scale and multi-omic data sets
  • Prepare publication quality figures from computational analysis
  • Communicate analysis in verbal, written, and graphical format
  • Teach and train other team member

Qualifications

  • Candidates must have a MSc or higher degree with strong biology expertise and experience in computer science
  • Experience in computer science, bioinformatics and / or biostatistics / statistics
  • Experience in Unix / Linux command line
  • Experience with R
  • Experience with statistical approaches to analyze, visualize and interpret genome-scale data sets.

Assets preferred but not required

  • Expertise in Python scripting language (Python, Perl)
  • Experience with software development (e.g. version control, GitHub)
  • Experience with high-performance computing systems (e.g. TORQUESlurm) for analyzing large data sets.
  • Experience processing and analyzing next-generation sequencing data, ATAC-seq and RNA-Sequencing data
  • Experience with single cell sequencing data (e.g. Fluidigm C1, 10X Genomics, Dropseq) and tools (e.g. Seurat, SCONE, SINGuLARScanpy)
  • Experience with the basic principles of cellular processes and cancer
