EWP Floor System Designer – Residential Construction

KOTT Inc.’s goal is to get our customers what they need when they need it. Our Design & Engineering team is looking for an experienced, full-time Designer of EWP floor systems for new home construction projects.

Your day-to-day

• Design pre-engineered floor systems using I-Struct or Mitek software
• Identify and flag any design issues or discrepancies noticed during the design process
• Communicate with KOTT Sales and Production teams to complete estimates in accordance with project timelines
• Track work assignments using KOTT’s Enterprise Resource Management software

What you need to succeed

Experience & Education

• Two years’ experience as a Floor System Designer (or designer of other framing components) working with Engineered Wood Products is preferred
• Experience working on a construction job site is considered an asset
• A Civil Engineering Technologist or Architectural Technologist Diploma is preferred, but equivalent work experience will be considered

Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with I-Struct and / or Mitek design software is preferred
• Knowledge of I-Joists, LVL, and other Engineered Wood Products
• Strong general computer skills required, including experience with MS Office
• Ability to read and interpret building plans and drawings is mandatory
• Familiarity with the Ontario Building Code
• Fluency in English is required; fluency in French is an asset
• Good verbal and written communications skills
• Good interpersonal skills and a team player
