Accounts Payable Specialist

About the Opportunity

• Review and post invoices for appropriate documentation prior to payment and follow-up with any issues
• Perform invoice and general ledger data entry
• Collate AP invoice and related PDF documents into a well-organized digital file by processing documents in an efficient and timely manner
• Obtain required signatures for cheques and distribute accordingly
• Process various back charges and employee reimbursable expense reports
• Respond to internal and external payment queries in a timely manner
• Establish regular communication with vendors for reconciliation of accounts
• Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
• Process urgent cheques, distribution cheques, and cash call cheques as required
• Other ad-hoc projects as required by the land development team
• The preferred candidate for this role will be someone who thinks outside the box to find the best approach to achieve results, is proactive, considers the bigger picture, and leads by example

About You

• Post secondary certificate or diploma in Accounting or Business Administration an asset
• Understanding of basic principles of finance, accounting, and bookkeeping
• Experience with accounts payable is an asset
• Superb time management skills and detail orientation
• Real estate industry experience is an asset (homebuilding, land development, commercial development and / or property management).
• Knowledge of Newstar is an asset.

Salary Range

$55,000 - $60,000 / year
