Title of Position : Construction Superintendent
Location : Windsor, ON, Canada
Compensation : $115,000-$135,000 base salary annually

The Detroit International Bridge Company (DIBC) is the operating entity behind the Ambassador Bridge, and has been so since 1979.
The Ambassador Bridge, erected in 1929, was designed and constructed by the same company that built the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, CA! Today, more than 10,000 commercial vehicles cross the structure on a daily basis, accounting for 25% of all commerce between Canada and the US!
The Construction Superintendent reports to the VP of Project Management and is responsible for a multiple commercial and industrial projects happening onsite at the Ambassador Bridge.
These responsibilities include new builds, renovations, and green field projects.

What does the Construction Superintendent do?
- Planning : Collaborating with engineers and subcontractors to determine project needs, setting goals and deadlines, and planning construction processes
- Estimating : Estimating costs and ensuring the project stays on budget
- Procurement : Ordering equipment and supplies, and keeping track of material stock and orders
- Safety : Implementing safety and quality guidelines, conducting safety meetings, and ensuring the job site is safe, clean, and orderly
- S upervision : Managing the construction crew, supervising subcontractors and subordinate staff, and providing constructive feedback
- Communication : Maintaining effective communication with project stakeholders
- Progress : Monitoring and reporting on project progress, preparing progress reports, and issuing progress schedules to clients
- Compliance : Ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations
Preferred Qualifications :
- Four year construction management / engineering degree or equivalent professional training and experience
- 4-6 years knowledge of commercial or industrial construction activities, design, finance, and management required
- Must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance
- Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, and standards.
- Must be a business-oriented professional
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Knowledge of WINDOWS (basic applications), Microsoft Office Suite, Computer Automated Design (CAD) and scheduling software systems.
- Extensive knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes, familiarity with permitting, and subcontractor relationships.
- Strong track record of accomplishments within commercial and industrial construction.
Working Conditions :
Able to work extended hours as needed 50+ hours.
Physical Requirements :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with employees and other individuals as well as function safely within an office environment, outside around heavy equipment, and on occasion lift heavy objects.
