Area Accountant

You as an Area Accountant :

• Work with internal and external clients to assemble client billing packages, enter data into accounting system, monitor area revenues & receivables, and actively manage working capital through a focus on collections and deposits.
• Collect, reconcile, seek approval, and process all project-related subcontractor payments, general expenditures, internal costing allocations, and all other financial transactions in a timely and accurate manner.
• Oversee vendor profiles including actively managing purchase order process from entry to closing. Prepare monthly purchase order spend analysis reports and ensure correct project allocation of spend.
• Work with the leadership group in preparation of budgets and forecasts along with reporting on the financial performance of area projects highlighting areas of risk and opportunity along the way.
• Focus on process improvement related to project financial management and develop expertise in the use of EllisDon’s Gate Three application.
• Participate in other special projects for the EllisDon group of companies, as needed.
• Monitor and analyze the overhead budget on a month-to-month basis, identify trends, irregularities, and any major variances.
• Review and track project costs & revenues to ensure they are captured in the correct accounting period.

Is this the right role for you?

• You have a post-secondary diploma / degree in Accounting or Commerce along with at least 2 years of relevant experience in a related role.
• You have experience using accounting and ERP systems.
• You have experience with full-cycle accounting within a business setting.
• You are a well-organized, proactive and detail oriented individual able to self-manage and work as part of a team in a dynamic fast paced environment.
• You have excellent written and oral communication skills.
• You are comfortable using Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel.
• You are a curious individual who is always looking to improve upon how things are done.
