Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia is currently searching for an Associate Director, Communications and Engagement to join our team in Burnaby! The Associate Director, Communications and Engagement is responsible for implementing short- and long-term communications and engagement strategies that protect and cultivate the reputation of Engineers and Geoscientists BC.

This includes registrant and public communications and engagement, digital communication and oversight of the organization’s web presence, marketing, media relations, and public relations.

This position plays a critical role in supporting the operational needs of a busy communications team in a dynamic environment and will be responsible for building and executing organizational strategies to engage key audiences to incorporate feedback into decision-making.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING Supports the Director in implementing the organization’s overall communications strategy and the associated plan to protect and enhance the organization’s reputation with the public, registrants, and key partners.

Contributes to and advances long-term strategies to position the organization as a trusted regulator and organizes resources and activities to achieve that vision.

Provides strategic counsel and advice to senior management, executive and the Board on communications strategy, and reputation management.

Directs and guides corporate communications efforts to deliver consistent, accurate, and relevant information to internal and external audiences, including overseeing communications strategies that support the regulatory and governance functions of the organization.

Directs and guides the development of the organization’s digital presence to deliver effective communication through its digital channels, including its external website, email, and social media.

Develops and directs the organization’s engagement strategy to measure awareness and sentiment and incorporate feedback from key audiences into organizational decision making;

identifies strategies for deepening relationships with key audiences and partners; identifies risks and develops strategies to mitigate risks.

Responsible for proactive and reactive media relations, issues management and crisis communications planning and response, including developing and implementing media and stakeholder communications in response to emerging issues.

Directs and guides the organization’s marketing program, including brand management, tradeshow participation, advertising, and market research.

Directs, guides, and implements the organization’s internal communications channels including the Intranet and other areas.

Manages and provides leadership to a team of 8 direct and indirect reports with accountability for hiring, training, coaching, and performance management.

Other duties as assigned by management. WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE The successful applicant will possess the following : Bachelor's degree is required, preferably with a focus on Communication or Public Relations.

7+ years of experience in strategic communications. 7+ years of experience as the main media contact for an organization;

established media relationships is an asset. 7+ years of experience managing a mid-size team (5-10); preference for experience managing Managers in addition to Individual Contributors.

Progressive experience creating and managing the deployment of resources for complex, organization-wide projects, including people and budgets.

Demonstrated varied experience in consultation, engagement, media relations, issues management, crisis communication, branding, and marketing.

This role offers a competitive compensation and benefits program including a salary within our hiring range of $133,000 to $149,000.

Placement within the hiring range will be based on candidate experience relative to the requirements of the role. Additional details on our generous benefit offerings are found below.
