We are seeking an experienced Building Science Consultant to join our dynamic team in Ontario. The successful candidate will be based in one of Pinchin’s GTA offices (Mississauga, Toronto, Markham, and Peterborough) and will play a key role in performing and managing building science investigations, designing effective remediation strategies, conducting on-site inspections, and delivering comprehensive reporting services. Additionally, this individual will provide asset management services, including property condition assessments for real estate transactions and refinancing, capital planning and reserve fund studies, and due diligence assessments for our diverse client base.
A Day in the life of Project Manager at Pinchin
- Lead and manage building science projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to budgets, and exceeding client expectations.
- Conduct thorough on-site inspections to assess building envelope conditions, identify issues, and formulate appropriate remediation strategies.
- Prepare detailed, clear, and comprehensive technical reports highlighting findings, assessments, and recommendations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to leverage expertise in building science, engineering, and real estate to deliver holistic solutions to clients.
- Provide asset management services, including property condition assessments, reserve fund studies, and due diligence assessments for real estate transactions.
- Cultivate strong client relationships, understand their needs, and tailor solutions that align with their goals.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in building science and real estate transactions.
- Demonstrate leadership by effectively leading project teams when required, ensuring effective communication and teamwork.
- Solve complex building science challenges, proactively leveraging technical knowledge and innovative thinking.
- Represent Pinchin with professionalism and expertise in client interactions, industry events, and conferences.
What you bring to the Pinchin team
Minimum of a 3-year Engineering Technology diploma and preference to be certified by the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) as a C.E.T. or a 3 year Architectural Technology diploma and preference for Certification under Association of Architectural Technologists of Ontario (AATO).Minimum of 5 years experience in the discipline of construction administration of major capital projects. Project & Construction Management / Administration certificates / courses would be considered an asset.Knowledge of : Ontario Building Code, Construction Act, Municipal Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Health Protection Act, standard CCDC construction documents, standard consulting contracts, applicable laws and regulations, and construction contract administration.Must have extensive contract administration experience in major capital projects and a demonstrated knowledge of construction methods, equipment and technologies related to design and construction, including reading and interpreting civil site plans, landscape, architectural, structural, mechanical & electrical drawings and associated specifications.Proven competence and technical knowledge of various trades and systems involved with construction and building technologies and demonstrated experience of sustainable practices and technologies including knowledge of LEED certification process and Net Zero building practices.Ability to deal effectively with consultants and contractors whilst exercising excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills.Must have well developed interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).Proficiency in the use of general computer software, Excel and Word, spreadsheets, report writing, presentation software, GIS platforms, etc.). web based project management platforms, SharePoint, SAP and AutoCAD.Ability to read, understand and clearly communicate written and oral instructions in English.Must have demonstrated acumen dealing with sensitive or confidential matters.Develop efficient information and data management processes to support the department functions.Strong organization, time management skills and coordinate several tasks at one time.Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision.A team player with demonstrated commitment to customer and community service.Must possess a valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License in good standing and access to a reliable vehicle for business purposes.Ability to work outside regular business hours, as required and a commitment to staying current with industry developments and continuous professional development.What Pinchin offers you
